Do you mean that the photos in the continuous shoot on the same card were in colour except for this one? Doesn't that suggest that you did something in-camera to make this one black and white? Cow Birds are black with brown heads (male) or all brown (female).

I wondered about that too but all the photos before and more importantly after are in perfect color. vz

Hi DebAnn, All the photos on this card are in splendid color and even the next one which is the robin which I just posted. vz
So what does the detailed exif data show and what camera was used?
Thanks Robert for checking in. I checked the data and nothing is amiss. This photo was shot with a Nikon D500. A detail to note. This is a grey bird photographed on a grey day with an iso of 2500. vz

So, could be a case similar to my spider done at ISO 6400, inside a lightproof blind with HSS flash that for some strange reason did not record on the exif. A mix of circumstances that produced something in the "Huh!!!!!!" universe - maybe Rod Stirling could explain it. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-550519-1.html

Just goes to show ya, the camera and lens can be fooled. Nice golden spider image by the way. vz
Love the photos. Both your original photo and the follow-up one are beautifully focused. The B&W photo is so sharp that I am just amazed. Mahalo for sharing.
