I just received a private message from a member informing me that they were quitting this site because he/she was tired of certain people following his/her posts and harrassing him/her. I am being intentionally vauge about who it is. this person has not chosen to give me the names of who thinks it is funny to make personnel attacks, and harrasses. THIS IS NOT KOSHER. not only is this site and its viewers are being denied acssess to a very talented photographer, but also someone who was especially encouraging and helpfull to newbies. I hate bullies of any kind. this person who quit is a personel friend of mind. even if he/she wasn't i would still be making this stand. If i find out who has been harrassing my friend, i will contact the admin about banning those individuals permanetly. This world is getting too angry rude and uncivilized, can not the hog be a place of peace and civility. :!: In the words of rodney king, can't we all just get along?

WOW I don't think I have seen anything, but I'm still new so I most likley missed it.

I absolutely agree with your stand. Did your friend notify the site Admin? It seems a shame to lose a productive member and keep an idiot. I have seen spirited discussions here and everyone just at some point agrees to disagree and be adults about it. The scenario you describe is just WRONG.

Your friend should notify the site......It should not be He or She that is leaving the site,it should be the Harasser

I believe the Rodney King question has been answered a number of times, but to address your concerns - I agree completly. To that end I believe the first thing that should be done is for the offended to address the situation head on and if your friend is still watching I would ask that those cares be directed to the site management personally. If not at the very least give you that information so that it can be passed on. At this point regardless of the validity of it there are no specifics - so there is no chance of anything being resolved.

I know who some of the people were and it sadden me also to lose this friend. They were a great provider of infinite wisdom and always respectEd others views, except were it came to bulling. No one respect a bully. It's what insecure people do. Not civil ones.

Just wanted to post that this wasn't me, since I was just in a conversation where somebody thought I thought they were being mean to me. I don't want them to think I've stormed off if they see this.

rachel, since i suspect you know who it is that just quit, may i sugest you send that person a private message of support? if enough people show that they care and love him/her, maybe him/her will change their mind.

please invite them back and expose the troublemaker If I knew who it was I would let the admin know they should be able to review the site and tell. If we stand by and let this happen we are guilty to.

With my heavy activity on this forum I've had to deal with a number of individuals that make no constructive comments or posts and seem hell bent on tearing down others. I've dealt with most in a private way must maintain a thick skin when dealing with troublemakers.
This forum is so very unique. It's truly an open forum welcoming new photographers and offering a flood of good advice. There should not be an ego war on this forum. My reason for remaining here is based on the majority being good sincere people, eager to learn and receptive to good advice. Sure, I've had to fight the urge to just leave when bullies make themselves known but always return when I think of how small a minority they represent. I think we, as a group, really enjoy our interaction as photographers and I think I'll remain as long as I see folks grateful for our contributions.

Every well said, I also would like to add if I ever say something and you are unsure the tone behind it, please ask me straight out. I'm a nice person, I don't want to hurt anyones feelings but since we are all communicating via typed word, facial expressions and tones are non-existant.

I can't see spending the effort to harass someone. I can't even see spending the time to notice if there's someone on here that I don't like and would want to "attack".
I think that whoever did this, needs desperately to get a life.
