And, yes - you can have BOTH in some cameras, but, if you HAD to choose one or the other, which would prove to be a better aid - in the long run???

I could not help but notice you boast of owning fourteen (yes 14) cameras!

Do you take photographs? Or are you a camera collector?

I also took a look at all the topics you presented; not one of them is about
"taking photographs."

Please enlighten me!

I have a Canon 70D DSLR and had to look at it to determine if it had the vari-angle screen. It does but I guess that tells you how often I use that feature :-) . I do like the touch screen feature though.

I chose vari-angle touch screen like the screen on my G1X III and my 80D. The screen on my 5D IV is a touch screen but unfortunately it is also fixed. Would be nice if it were a flippy screen but I manage without. As for important, neither are important to me; they are what they are. There have been times when the articulated screen has come in handy but it's not the be all end all, just a convenience. Getting use to the touch screen is an entirely different matter but it has its definite advantages. As I have cameras with both, I will choose the one that will best get the job done.

For me, flip. I use it more than I was expecting I would. I rarely use the screen for its touch functions though. I just prefer having buttons for most functions. It's nice to have the option of touch though.

Please enlighten as to why you care if he takes photographs or collects cameras. It has nothing to do with the subject matter.

Personally, neither for me. I like having my screen immovable. I've seen too many broken flip out screens and touch screens that the shooter "accidently" pressed and missed a shot. For me (and this is a personal choice as both can be convenient) I prefer to have an immovable screen that doesn't get left hanging out or whatever. If the sun is too bright or whatever, I can always shade it.

Being an old duck I often am finding it hard to adjust to new innovations. I turned off my touchscreen on my camera(s) because I found myself accidentally touching and therefore changing something when I didn't want the change too often.

I've use a camera that had both: never used the touch-screen feature.
The articulating screen was a huge bonus to me: Set the camera on the floor/ground and still be able to compose my subject. Or sit with the camera on my lap, pointing sideways from my position, but myself facing away from the subject (read: grandkids). Great to take candid shots and the kids not even realizing that because I was looking somewhere else and still had their picture taken. At the time they hated it, now they're happy with those photos.

While I mostly use a viewfinder, I really like flip out screens. Makes it easier to shoot over your head in crowds, or down low close to the ground. Also to take candid shots without having the camera to your eye, getting natural rather than posed or "frozen" shots. And for the occasional selfies.

I'm old, so have never figured out touch screens. But a fully articulated screen is a must for my primary camera.

Ditto for me. I like the articulated screen. However, I have too often accidentally touched the screen, so I turned that feature off.

Hands down, an articulating screen. it allows you to see some shots that would be impossible with the standard view. As for a touch screen, although I like to be able to touch the spot I want in focus...I've wasted many shots because it is too sensitive..

Of course I do, M ... and some of them are posted here, in the gallery ....

You are counting a Sony bridge (ten more of those, but I didn't have room to list them all) and my Pentax 67 - a film camera - medium format.

I only have a dozen DSLRs - started out wanting to get three of each major brand - a beginner, an intermediate, and a semi-pro ...

I did it, right, at the beginning - with Canon, and ended up doing it right, with the three Sony SLTs ... but, in the middle, it kinda fell apart ...

The second Pentax I bought, I had to return (bought it used) and whilst I was waiting for the credit to be processed, the D5500 came out, so I got one.

But after the credit had been issued, I looked at the price of a NEW K-3 ... and it was astronomical, so I wound up getting a D7100, instead ...

Wound up with a dozen (as planned) but - two LESS Pentax models, and two MORE Nikon models - one for the Touch, the other - for full lens compatibility.

Don't think I'll be buying anymore DSLRs for a while ... covered all my needs already - but, you never know, M ....

BTW, M ... on your comment about actually TAKING photographs, in my series of Topics ... I suspect you missed a few ....

That list goes back a year - half of which was spent, putting up two a day ... and the list goes on for 13 pages, at what - 20-25 per page?

I've dealt with that subject once or twice ... perhaps more ... look at the ones with "Art" in the title ... you might enjoy some of those, M ....

My choice is definitely flip. I have a touch on my 5D Mk 4 and never use it. I don't like fingerprints all over the screen.

Because of some of the shooting I do, very low angle, night skies, and other odd angles, I had to get an angle viewfinder for mine. If I had a flip screen it would aid in composition.

Although my Olympus mirrorless cameras have flip out screens and touch screen I find the flip out screen more useful to me.

The EOS 70D was the first in the intermediate Semi-Pro Canon line to employ Touch. The prior 60D I have, has the flip-out screen but lacks Touch capability ...

In the Rebel line ... all "i" series models, since the T4i (I also have) have been both Touch and Flip-Out screens, and now the SL2 does, too ... and the 6D Mk. II.

The newer 5D models employ Touch, too ... but with a Fixed Screen, HJ ....

Canon has more Flip-Out Touch Screen models than anyone else ... it's become pretty much standard on the Rebel "i" series, and the EOS XX series ...

Personally, I love having both ... but I really wish Canon would adopt the larger 3.2" screen Nikon uses ... that'd make my day!!!!!
