Ken, Your history is similar to my history with the scuba, boats, cycles etc. but I passed on leaving a perfectly good plane. I live in southern West Virginia but spent 30+ years around the DC area before retirement. Cameras have always been with me as well as guns. I really don't hunt anymore but spend a lot of time in the mountains with an ATV and my dog. I like taking photos for self enjoyment and special projects like you are doing. As you start using a good camera, it gets to grow on you and you will find new areas to photo. I sometimes think photography is a lot like playing golf, you play 18 holes and out of that you only hit one really great shot but that shot makes you want to come back and see if you can do it again or possibly get 2 great shots on the next round. Would love to see your hardware however, you are out of my class. I have 35 or so guns but mostly standard hand guns or rifles that punch holes in targets!

A friend took a some cell phone pics of me shooting one of my toys (full auto HK51, 308 with 10.5"barrel )
This is why I'm looking for a nice camera to get some very cool photos
By the way members just love when the have to shoot next to me

Great shots, my 308 can't produce that level of flash! The D7100 takes really great short movie clips, now that would be interesting to watch!

Ken, you don't know how I hate to tell someone to buy (anything) because I would rather give basic facts and let the person make their own choice. Call me chicken! I do think this is a reasonable price and it is a camera that I believe would meet your every need. Additionally with your return options I think you should feel safe in the purchase. I purchase almost everything from either Amazon or B&H and can say that B&H has never lead me down the wrong path. I think it would be good to ask them the shutter count just as a general concern. It will tell you how many times the camera took a photo. Much like buying a used handgun and you don't know if the original owner stuck it in a drawer for home protection or put 400 rounds through it at the range each weekend. That said, I don't know just what too high would be on a camera but you can search other posts, it has been the topic several times before. You could check the count yourself if you purchase it and make that part of the evaluation to keep or return. The D7200 is a good solid camera for sure!

I hate making decisions.
Now looking at the d5600 due to smaller size
Any thoughts between d5600 and 7200 both with same 18/140 lens
Hope I'm not a bother

I have no knowledge of the 5600 but you could open a new topic on the main photography page and you will have people that have used or owned both comment. I also think that you can do comparisons on B&H, I think they just show you the features and functions of each but they let you determine which you would make use of. Lots of luck in this. Don't forget you will probably be needing a tripod, flash and camera bag too.

Thank you,
Well when your on a world wide forum and find someone about 20 miles away from where you live
It is a really small world. I got to say have talked to some very nice people on here
I think I've decided between a Nikon d5600 or Nikon 7200. I like the size of the 5600,but one extra shot per sec in burst may
Help me get that brass flight out the ejection port I'm wanting to capture.

I shoot with the D7200 and like it a lot. I would get it over the D5600.
