What is manual?

My last 35mm was a KX. I loved it because of the mirror lockup. I used that all the time.

to me full manual means you and your camera with no meter. anything else is meter or camera assisted. I shoot sony a mount and even with old canon lenses it's still impossible to shoot fully manual. after I set the camera to M , set the iso and apeture. centering the pointer on the ev scale gives me the proper shutter speed. then it's back to camera assisted.

Manual is where you control the triangle. Light meter is not included in the triangle. But without a light meter of some sort, you will be using an educated guess at the settings. In other words, a light meter is very useful but not included in the triangle (Iso, f stop,shutter speed).
