Are you recommending 42nd st as a vendor? Surely someone with your “experience” should know better...

Not at all, TriX ... I bought my EF-S 15-85 IS USM back in 2012 when it was just $595 at J&R (long gone, now) but once Sally had decided on it, I did tell her she might be able to find it slightly cheaper than B&H's price - $799 ... and then, thought I might do the legwork for her ... and that's the first one that came up ... slightly less than I paid ... and 5-6 years later ... so, I thought I might pass it on - just in order to show you CAN buy them cheaper, elsewhere ... Personally, I wouldn't do biz at 42nd St. Photo - even if they were giving them away ....

I’m going to pick one up. I’ve read the on-line reviews and you and Alan have both recommended it. That’s good enough for me!
