I like your opinions on the lenses performances and values. I just got Sony A 7 iii. Thank you in advance, Shang

Is Samyang the same as Rokinon? The Rokinon 14mm F2.8 FE is fast, quiet, and has great color. I tried it out in the store, and I would say it was comparable to the Zeiss Batis 18mm 2.8. The Zeiss color might be a little better, but the Zeiss was also twice the cost.

I have heard that the 50mm F1.4 is also a very good lens, but I have not seen it.

I haven't even heard anything about the other, but give it a try and post some pictures for us.

Yes Rokinon and Samyang are the same lenses, just different badging in different markets. Just google reviews of each lens. They have been reviewed and the reviews are on youtube. Cheers

The three Samyang lenses you mention are all very heavy (pound and a quarter) and large. Part of the Sony ethic is downsizing. Those three do not meet that test. Their reviews are mediocre--read up on them.

Samyang also produces an AF 35mm F2.8 and the brand-new AF 24mm F2.8--both are extremely small and lightweight.

BTW: Samyang and Rokinon are the same. Samyang developed the Rokinon brand for the US market--but the lenses are identical. In Europe, they do not use the Rokinon brand.

If you already own the Sony 24-105mm lens you cover the range already (except for the ultra-wide). I doubt that the Samyang primes will give you more than the Sony zoom. If you do not own the 24-105 yet this is where I would start. This is the first lens I got with my Sony A7 III, and it is a superb lens.

My thought on primes is that they should improve on what the standard zoom lens can do. I got the outstanding Zeiss Batis 18mm f/28 and the Sony/Zeiss 35mm and 55mm. I often leave the zoom at home because those prime lenses are a joy to work with.

Thank you for your recommendations. Shang

I’ve just gotten into Sony with A9 several lenses
Sony g masters and Ziess lenses only
I look at this way you purchased a great camera why put anything less in front of the Sony sensor than GREAT glass
That said
People all the time “settle” for a lesser glass for many reasons, me personally, I’d rather go without for a while than get less than awesome images due to not so great glass!

I have a 12 mm Rikinon/Samyang for my Fuji. Excellent! One reviewer found it sharper than the Zeiss equivalent. It is manual focus, but at such wide angle, you set it hyperfocal and just forget about it.

I think if one puts high end glass up against low end glass and put 8X10 shots of each of the same thing and does not label which lens is used one would never know the difference!

Obviously you have never looked at the ultra wide Rokinon/Samyang lenses. When compared to zeiss, they came out sharper, and faster. You can always pay more, but you don't make better images. Here is a review of the 12 mm which I have and highly recommend. https://petapixel.com/2014/06/04/review-rokinon-12mm-f2-0-great-option-astrophotogs-budget/

I use Samyang 6.5, 14, 24, 35, 50, 85 and 135mm lenses (adapted from Canon EF mount) with both an A7S and A7R II. Really like them all; however, the 14, 35 and 135mm are my favorites.
