It just looks a little too green to me, but I think you've done well to capture that just as the sun comes out look. But that's very much my personal view.
A judge once said to me "If you like it that's all that really matters". So, if you like it - that's all that really matters.

Thanks, John. I actually was wondering about that. If it were too green. Or too yellow. That's why I said it's the final - for now!

Keeping in mind what you felt, I richened the forest near the path bend, brought just a bit more contrast into the rest of the forest, and used a gradient 20% overlay layer on the path itself--to lead the eye to the "peace."

That's beautiful. Now if I just knew how to do all that.

Do you use Photoshop? I'd be glad to walk you through doing it.

I'll start by saying I like this image. But I don't like this image. I like where I was and how it felt to be there. I totally enjoyed my time on this path that was described as one "without destination." I found such lovely things there. Somehow my image leaves me sort of cold - not at all the way I felt when there. I've tried making it darker, lighter, more contrasty, etc. But my PP skills aren't wonderful and I've sort of exhausted them.

So I'd appreciate some suggestion from all of you as to how to make this image better define how I felt when there: peaceful, without hurry or worry, willing to be simply led for awhile.

What I have posted is a jpeg made directly from the original RAW file in ACR with no corrections whatsoever.

This is a fantastic exercise. I often find myself hiking in majestic woods or past rolling hills viewed from an exposed ridge. I take the shot and it never gives me the same feeling I had when I was walking there. I never delete those photos, though; because the always put me back in that place when I view them later. I think what you did with NIK comes very close to making this photo really work because the light moves us through the photo which is totally lacking in the original. I know Linda likes some glow in photos like these and I do too. She is right to point out that it is your photo and your preferences and emotions are what counts. I would probably use her crop and your pp. Then I would come back to the photo often because it puts you right where you were at the time and only you know what that felt like. I know that I can remember strenuous climbs or temperature changes when I look at my photos from hikes and that is why they are important to me.

Thanks, Erich. I often return to photos that even aren't that wonderful because of how I felt in that moment. That, to me, is the power of photography.

I decided to go with a standard size crop for ease in future framing. I tried Linda's glow because I liked the sort of dreamy quality of the center of it. However I couldn't achieve the same effect, so I went a different direction to get a similar effect.
