Guide for the Nikon D7500

Hi All - I've just taken the plunge and upgraded from the D3300 to D7500 - my main interests are wildlife/BIF/landscape. I've only had it for a few days so am just practising to get used to it. I've started going through the manual but really need a good guidebook written in plain English as I'm not very good with technical jargon. For the D3300 I had the Dummy book by Julie Adair which found very helpful. There is also a Dummy book for the D7500 by Julie Adair. However, I've also been recommended David Busch's Guide. Amazon UK gives you the opportunity to look inside the books but cannot really tell which would be better for me. Your thoughts/comments much appreciated. Thank you Grace

I have both of them and I do use both of them. If I'm looking for something in particular in one book and I need a little bit more explanation I go to the other book.

I prefer the Magic Lantern guides. I haven’t read Busch’s but it gets good reviews.

What has helped me learn my D7200 mostly is this site. People leave a lot of links and answer a lot of questions that have been applicable to my needs. As I’ve progressed and want to leave specifics, I’ve always found lots of videos on the internet.

Amazon also lists books by Rob Sylvan, Darrell Young, Jon Sparks and Douglas Klostermann. All are highly respected authors and frequently recommended on the UHH forum. All are also less expensive to purchase than the Busch book.

Don't forget Steve Perry's ebooks. He is a member here. His books will not be specific to your camera but will be a huge help in the type of photography you wish to pursue.

I would also suggest that you look at [u]Mastering the Nikon D7500[/] by Darrell Young. While the manual is short and not so sweet, this book goes into more detail on every setting and use of the camera. It, too, is a technical book, but one that provides a very usable index, which is what one needs when questions arise. It goes into more detail than the manual. My book on the D800 had 26 pages on the focusing system, for example.
Another book to check out is a a digital book by a great reviewer of camera equipment, Thom Hogan's Complete Guide to the Nikon D7500 which runs 900 pages.

All camera manuals are written by Engineers who designed the product, and unless you are looking up a specific feature, are useless. David Busch's Guides are the best, IHMO. The "Dummies" guides, frankly I find too simplistic. And, I always get them as E-books, which makes it much more portable.

I second anything by Darrell Young. I have his D810 guide. Excellent.

Sorry to confuse the issue but you might also care to see if there is anything by Thom Hogan. Don't think any one author is going to suit all your needs. Steve Perry's ebook on the Nikon Autofocus system is very good.

I've had several by Busch, and they were all good. I also have the Darrell Young guide for the D750. Good book. He has one for the D7500.

Hi, I recently got the D7500 as well. I see you have several good book recommendations. I would suggest you also take a look at a YouTube video that I found very worthwhile.

It's not a replacement for a good manual but, I think, it's a pretty good introduction to the basics of the camera and it many menu choices.

I bought Davis Busch's guide for the Canon 6D. Very comprehensive and easy to follow. Good investment.
