Wonderful image. Love the color. I lived in LB for 6 years. My sister still lives there.

Thanks Mark - glad you liked it! They did an amazing job renovating the beach, and every time I go the area is constantly under construction with new buildings.

Some rescue boats are designed to pull victims into the boat either from the front or rear. Our dive boat which is used for rescue has a folding aluminum platform that swings down in front of the boat so that victims and divers can easily access the boat with a minimum of effort. I tell you what...it costs a ton of money ( your tax money ) to make sure that we can haul your butt out of the water!!

Thanks skylinefirepest! Its pretty amazing what they can do with boats these days. My butt doesn't cost very much, as I'm not all that excited to get in the water. For me, its the views and ocean breeze.

Gregory - I spent a lot time down at Seaside when I was younger, not so much at LBI. Mostly these days it's taking the Granddaughters to Point Pleasant. Sounds like you have a bunch of good memories from those days, as do I. The Jersey shore is a great way to spend almost any day.

,
It was the greatest place to grow up My folks had a summer home on the Ocean, and we would spend the summers in Seaside. When I got old enough, I bought my own home and moved there, until I moved to FL, 46 years ago. I still miss it

As lifeguard boats, they're built to row out through heavy surf and stay afloat. As explained above, the floatation is airtight so the boat can't really sink. Waves and heavy seas can break over this boat, but any water taken on flows quickly out of the holes on the sides and back of the boat so they can reach people in trouble out in or beyond the heavy surf.

Yes. Many shore communities have truly improved the beaches. Bradley Beach, my former home town, used 20,000 X-Mas trees to create dunes that have prevented beach erosion.
I love the Jersey Shore. Asbury Park has made a fabulous comeback. (my HS Alma Mater)

Thanks Mike - glad you liked it! Living in NJ my entire life, I just naturally associate summer with the shore.

Thanks jak86094! That makes sense, but my first thought when I saw the boat was that they better fix those holes.

I think its paying off, as the amount of construction has to be in response to all the additional vacationers.

Really enjoyed this thread. I looked up info on those boats. 350# That surprised me. Apparently the design is over 100 years old.

Thanks Eleanor - glad you liked it! I also had to look up the boats, because I'd never seen any with holes in hull before. They looked odd but also very sleek in person.
