Water must run out as fast as it gets in. Great shot.

Thanks NMGal - glad you liked it. As I later found out, the subfloor underneath is watertight and these holes very quickly drain any water that gets in.

Wow, a really different composition. Nice job.

Thanks rgrenaderphoto - glad you liked it. I'm trying to get foreground interest in some of the beach shots.

Thanks Dan - glad you liked it. Curiosity got the better of me, and had to find out what all the holes in the boat were for.

Thanks Gregory - glad you liked it! Which beach(es) were you at? I mostly hit those in Central Jersey.

You are correct Blue Morel. The self bailing feature allows you to launch and land them in rough surf . I believe this one is an Asay. When the first ones showed up we were all thrilled as it lessened ''the excitement'' of launching and beaching in high surf. Notice I said lessened, it can still get pretty ''sporty''. If you have a chance, go to one of the many lifeguard tournaments along the New Jersey coast and watch the ''surfboat relay'' race. Bring the camera!!!

I was a member of the SPBP, Seaside Park Beach Patrol. yssirk123, on the island just north of LBI. Of course they were wooden skiffs, in those days. Made by the Clayton Skiff Co. in Lavalette, NJ. They were great for surfing waves, before we had boards. Lots of fun. They sure came in handy when things got real rough

Wonderful image. Love the color. I lived in LB for 6 years. My sister still lives there.

Some rescue boats are designed to pull victims into the boat either from the front or rear. Our dive boat which is used for rescue has a folding aluminum platform that swings down in front of the boat so that victims and divers can easily access the boat with a minimum of effort. I tell you what...it costs a ton of money ( your tax money ) to make sure that we can haul your butt out of the water!!

Gregory - I spent a lot time down at Seaside when I was younger, not so much at LBI. Mostly these days it's taking the Granddaughters to Point Pleasant. Sounds like you have a bunch of good memories from those days, as do I. The Jersey shore is a great way to spend almost any day.
