Yes, Card may be corrupted or be a Counterfeit Card, or even be to large to work in your Camera, some higher GB cards might not work properly in some Cameras, I have heard or read that somewhere, do not remember.
If you Google your Camera model, you can find out what Cards the Camera manufacturer recommends for your individual Camera, or your Owners manual should show you recommended SD cards to use in your Camera.

Yes, insert another card (of a size that the camera and file system supports) and format it in-camera.

A few years back I had the same problem. I bought a card reader that I plugged in to my computer. Now all is well.
