Not surprised that newspapers are losing money. Most of them print crap so what do they expect?

I disagree. Newspapers are the last bastions of "real news", at least IMHO. The loss of a single photojournalist job is something to be mourned, not celebrated.

Just my opinion, YMMV.

I am peripherally involved in the industry, and still have many friends in it. Again, I disagree, respectfully.

There are many true journalists, reporting on facts. Too few media sources that aren't controlled by ratings and corporate profits.

It all has to do with $$$.Now they will hire freelance assignment photographers that operate cheaper and don't have to deal with health insurance, pensions, yearly salary.

Maybe you explained it better than me. The media sources just aren't interested in real journalism.

If you've got a Kardashian in a skimpy outfit on the red carpet, even in a cell phone quality image, why would you care about starving children in some part of the world that most Americans couldn't find on a map, or even pronounce?

The times we live in...

Wrong , because they DO care!

The public, which means YOU, doesn't care.

Yeah, print news seems to be on unsteady legs - Damn shame.
FWIW - I subscribe to WSJ, Wash. Times, Balto. Sun and local Catonsville Times. Have done so for years and will continue until I can't.

Sorry for the photographers, but I have no use for their biased opinion. If they kept their opinions on the editorial page that would be fine, but they won't print any story that doesn't fit their agenda and so their sales are showing the results.
