Best and safest way to carry camera

I have an A6500 Sony and I want to carry it ever day in Europe and keep it safe.any ideas would be appreciated?

I have a wide (nondescript) strap with clips and carry it cross-shoulder.
EDIT: Mainly because it's easier on the neck, but also a little harder for someone to snatch.

I always found to carry a camera the best way is to use the good old neck strap! (served me well for over 40 years)!

Use a strap. But, being aware of your surroundings is far better than a device. Pay attention!

I agree with Longshadow, a wide strap across your body from one shoulder makes it easier on your neck but harder for someone to grab it and run. It gwill still be easy to raise the camera to eye level for photographing.

This is what I have been using for several years, for ALL my shooting, both in and out of country. I like it because of the under the arm strap that prevents the strap from slipping.

I think mleuck has given you the best advice, be aware of your surroundings. You will be seeing new and fascinating places and it will be easy to get distracted. Be alert to what is going on around you at all times. If possible, being in a group would be a good idea.

I wondered all over France with a Fuji X-T20 kit (body, 3 lenses) with a PacSafe Camsafe V25 backpack. Including the entrance to the Louvre in Paris, one of the 2 Pickpocket capitals of Europe, without issue:

The time-proven neck strap. However, you will need to properly adjust the strap length, based on the camera and lens, as well as your body. Not too long such that the camera swings about too much and can get caught onto things, and not too short such that the camera becomes uncomfortable to use. Experiment with different strap lengths until you find the ideal length.

The FastFire strap may very well allow quick and easy use of the camera at all times, but to be honest, it does not look safe at all. Firstly, the camera will be dangling way too much unless you have your hand placed on it to keep it from swinging about. Secondly, a typical thief won't have any problem removing the camera from the strap within seconds. I don't see anything particularly safe about the FastFire strap.

What lenses will you be using? If you are using the 16-50mm kit lens the most comfortable and safest way would be a light wrist strap and a jacket pocket.
