The Swiss Rail system is unbelievably excellent. Consider day trips to Zermatt for the Matterhorn, the Reichenbach falls for Sherlock Holmes fans, to Berne, Zurich, etc.
Where are you being based in country?
That's a very good idea to use Swizz Trains there are very efficient bit they horrendously expensive, for instance, the Gornergrat from Zermatt to Matterhorn costs $120
Lucerne for a great old city. A river runs through it.
The ice caves at the top of Jungfrau mountain with a cog rail trip to get there. Spec. mountain range views. Dress warm with good shoes.

I am prepared for that! The good news is that I can write a lot of it off as most of it is a work trip, with some big expenses paid by the client. So I don’t mind spending the money in order to have the experience!
That sounds awesome! I’ll definitely check that out!

Ice caves sound awesome! I’m really excited about checking out the mountains!
Our favorite place of all places is Murren overlooking the Lauterbrunnen valley and looking across to the Eiger, Jungfrau, Munch. The views are amazing, better than any mountain scene I have ever had...and I have been all over CO and the West of the US, Norway and others. There are wonderful trails all over. A cable car takes you to the top of Zugspitze where you can have breakfast at the James Bond restaurant and, if you are inclined, you can hike back down to Murren. Murren itself is carless...you take either a funicular or cable car to get there, then hit the trails...Lauterbrunnen is well served by trains so a car is unnecessary to get there wherever you are. You will love the photo ops of the Sound of Music scenes, the cows, all of it. I have not been across the valley around Eiger itself, nor taken the railway at Eiger, because I cannot tear myself away from the other side of the valley, but I'm sure it is spectacular. It is possible to visit that side from Murren via a longish day trip. I am excited for you...you will be dazed by the beauty and photo ops. Have not been there in September so cannot know whether the weather is a concern at high altitudes. Good luck.
Murren and Gimmelwald Switzerland! The most beautiful places I have ever been to and seen.

Great advice! You had me at James Bond! The job goes from the end of September thru the first week in October, so I won’t be “exploring” until that wraps. I’ve been checking out what the typical weather is like as well as other things to do while I’m there.

I do use TripAdvisor as well. They can be helpful! Thanks! 👍🏼
A side trip to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn is a great idea. You can tram up to upper levels of the mountain for some great views. The town of Zermatt was car free when I was there. Have a good trip
Definitely put Zermat on your list. It’s where you’ll find the Matterhorn. The town is lovely! Lucerne and Geneva would also go on my list but be sure to get out of the car and do a bit of hiking.

Nice! I plan on as much outdoors hiking as possible!
