One final tip. Put a wide "brocolli" rubber band where the lens is mounted to the body. Even if there is an internal rubber gasket, it keeps fine sand and salt spray out of the joint. Thinner rubber band if it interferes with the zoom ring depending on the lens. Also, carry xtra zip lock bags to split open and wrap around the body or lens, or whole thing, as needed.

I hope this adds to the excellent info already said on this thread.

Good stuff! That last one in particular is an excellent tip, as well as encouraging healthier eating. Thanks!

If you know anyone with a compressor or a compressed air tank turn it upside down while also really giving a good go around with the nozzle. If you vacuum it a few times and do this you should be able to get it all out.

Buy a new bag, but keep this on for the beach. On beach days put camera and lens in a baggie for extra protection. This way your new bag will not get sand into it.

I like this idea. Thanks!

Definitely get a new one. Many years ago one of my kids did the same thing. I vacummned that bag to death. A few weeks later it went to the shop for a new shutter that was "grinding."

Yikes! Good to know!

Buy a new bag and give me the Sandy bag. I will vacuum my new bag out and it will be good to go shooting. Or, you can vacuum your bag out, after shaking the heck out of the bag and then you can go shooting. The bag will be fine and your camera will also be fine.

I'd kick her arse till her nose bleeds. Vac it & use it mate. Too much waste in the world today.
There's dust in the air outside the bag. Can't do much harm.

I hope you don't have kids.

Yes, clean the bag, I've washed Tenba, Domke and LowePro bags without problems. I'd also spank your kids bottom for her carelessness.

Went to the beach for sunset pictures. I took my camera out of the bag and as I was moving to close up the bag, my daughter flung her sandles and got sand all inside it. After vacuuming it out well, would you trust it? Or just get a new one? I'm a little nervous about using it again.

What type of bag?
Some are well made and shake them out and launder.

Depends on the bag itself. How much did it cost? I don't believe bags are reasonably priced and 50 to 100 bucks every time you get sand/dirt in it is a little overboard. Exactly how much sand we talking about? I would vacuum it out and make sure it is zipped up at all times during outings.

Exactly, and launder. If it is any good it will clean up just fine.

I think I'd use it for something other than delicate gear of any kind. Now you have a good excuse to start shopping for a new bag. : )

Totally agree; and, ALWAYS good to have excuse to replace with something better :).
