If you're inclined to shop, you can get a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime.

I went on Amazon and several other sites trying to find one specific thing for my mothers 97th. birthday.
She dearly loves Shearer's potato chips, and the local stores do not carry this Ohio store product.
I thought for sure that Amazon would have it, but -----no luck.
I even called the toll free # for the Ohio company. They won't sell it to me at any price.

I keep Prime for the movies and music, which keeps my family amused. I was hoping for a monopod walking stick to go on sale, but alas, not to be...

OK! I never pay to shop. Never have membership from Costco or Sam Club.

Okay. I do understand your philosophy. My dad would never pay to go into a flea market, despite his love of antiquing.

But I save my membership cost in free shipping during the first six months of the membership. And that's not counting the special deals and savings throughout the year. The video service is just gravy, but it has lots of recent material as well as classic films, which are my favorites.

Whatever the business model, it saves me money and that's the bottom line. The same can be said of wholesale clubs. I used to have one at Sam's but they closed all stores nearby, so I dropped it. The nearest Costco is quite far away, and they don't accept my bank debit card, so I'm stuck with BJ's as the only viable alternative. Again, the savings justify the membership cost quite quickly. If I could remember to buy gas there regularly, I'd make it up very quickly at more than ten cents a gallon difference.

I'm not a big fan of club shopping though I have a Sam's membership I picked up on Groupon. It's OK but seems everything you buy is industrial sized. Amazon Prime is the best investment I have made. Free shipping, movies, books, music and 95% of the time a much better price on anything. Did my Christmas shopping in one morning, my grand kids toys etc. Went to a few brick and mortar stores looking for specific toys and had no luck, Amazon had them and I got them in 2 days at a lessor price than retail. Now the big one, little over a year ago for hobby fun decided I wanted to try drone photography so went to a local brick and mortar hobby store that carried DJI drones. Knew what I wanted and the price was $1400.00 plus sales tax. Checked a few places online and ended up on Amazon, Couldn't believe the price $997.00, no sales tax and free 2 day shipping. It came from a hobby shop in Georgia fulfilled by Amazon. And it's not grey market.. In my opinion the $120.00 a year for prime is well worth it, just in shipping I save that much. Yes I'm a heavy Amazon user and being a retail manager for 40+ years know prices. This is what brick and motor is afraid of, why do you think every place you shop wants your email address?
