Excellent dragon shots, Mike!! Love the details you capture on both, but love the face on #2!!
Excellent, Mike. Watch out for the macro bug, it's contagious. These kinds of shots make you vulnerable to it.
Love the eyeballs and wing lace in the second
They are photogenic...well captured.

All these dragon photos took me out to the back yard. I learned that shooting with the 24-70 at 70mm (1st shot) produced a body completely in focus. Going to the 100-400 at 400 (2nd shot) produced great eye detail but the rear of the body got lost. Since both were hand held, next time I will use a mono pod to see if I get better results.
Very nice UTMike, they are fun to shoot
Actually Mike, in the first one, the head looks a little out of focus to me, but the body is sharp. Maybe the F4 is the culprit and not camera movement. The second shot is much more pleasing. As with birds, the eyes should always be in focus.
mike, great shots!! Don"t you think if you shot at(f9- f11) that the body would have been in focus too.. It also depends where on the dragon you are focusing. Try it out. Good luck!!

Excellent set Mike, enjoyed the details in #2.
Very good. Shallower depth of field with the longer lens?
