Great shots. I always wanted to go to Bodie.

Thank you! Bodie is a rare opportunity to see such an extensive community so well preserved, so I hope you do get there, woodworkerman. The area between Mammoth Lakes and Bridgeport can keep you busy with photography for a good week. I wish I could have had more than just 2-1/2 days.

Thanks for sharing the photos. They bring back memories when I was there over 50 years ago with my parents

Wow, fifty years ago Bodie was just becoming a Historial State Park and hadn't been abandoned very long. Would love to have seen it then compared to now. Glad you enjoyed the flash-back to family trips when you were young, Greg.

Thanks, Bob--sure wish I could have sneaked in at dawn or twilight, though. Somehow, I envision a 'ghost town' better depicted in the haunting light after the sun has gone down.

Don't you know it--stories that started with anticipation and promise, and ended in despair...and all the daily trials of survival in between. Glad you enjoyed the images, Fran.

Out of hundreds of clicks, I thought this limited set offered some insight into the community. Even for a remote, harsh environment, I noted that the townsfolk still had their refinements as reflected in things like corbels over entryways, heavy moldings around door panels...the accoutrements of a more urban society.

Photographing the old structures was a nice departure from the mountain vistas--glad you enjoyed viewing them, Karin.
