Burl Ives got his only Oscar for his role as Rufus Hannassay, and Chuck Connors was a pretty good bad guy. I've probably watched this movie more than any other western, even more than my second-fave, High Noon.
BTW Shelty, you CAN have one of the Quigley rifles if you're willing to pay enough and wait long enough for one of a couple of different guys to make you one.

Yeah, I know. there are several of them on the market for several thousand. But I'm too old now, and those days are long past. I once wanted a 45-70 carbine. But the guy wanted around $5,000 for it, and back then I couldn't afford it. I also remember way back in the 50's I could've picked up all sorts of those guns dirt cheap.
