would like it with that clones out or dodged and burned..it is a very artistic shot and I think that detracts from it..just my humble opinion

Adult hummers feed almost exclusively on water-borne nectar and/or human-provided sugar water. 90% of their intake is water, so about 90% of their output is water. I have witnessed this, usually as they prepare to fly, sort of like a ship dumping ballast as they sail away.

Interesting, thanks. In the photo, it looks pretty clear, so I assumed it was mostly a watery liquid.

Btw, Nikonian, I was in the Navy in '64 & '65, stationed on a destroyer in Long Beach. I have very fond memories of the city and "The Pike." I've always wanted to go back, but never have. One day....
