While shooting backyard Hummingbirds yesterday, I captured this one. Now, I've seen hundreds of H'bird pics on the Internet, but none of them are peeing in mid air - I guess that makes my shot rather rare.

What you see isn't urine; it's actually from the vormocellar glands located under each wing and is called vormecellium, from the Greek words "voro" (meaning rapid or fast) and "ellium" (meaning to release or drop).
The vormecellium is a substance formed when the sugar in the bloodstream is cooled when it circulates close to the lungs. It is very toxic and must be released every few minutes. It's hardly ever seen because it is usually transparent.
