Absolutely mesmerizing set! Such beautiful country!

Thanks so much, phv! It seemed as though each day the scenery just kept getting better. It was hard to turn around to go back home, as so much remained undiscovered. We were blessed with good weather for the whole trip, though, so we were able to make the most of the time we had.

Great series Diane, keep them coming.

Thanks, Earnest!! Our day trip across Tioga Pass to Yosemite comes next. (BTW, I am in the process of building a new home and have been up to my eyeballs in making contact with subs and material suppliers, so my time on UHH has been restricted.)

Wow! Beautiful. I really like the shot of that waterfall. Thanks for sharing.

Glad to have you take time to drop in and view the series, Wingpilot! I do love the waterfalls, too, and if one is anywhere near, I'll be sure to photograph it.

Good to see that Mono Lake has more water than the last time I was there.
Nice portfolio of images from your journey. Thanks for sharing.

I had read where Mono gets really low at times, so I was delighted that it was at a good level while we were there. The one thing that I did not experience was the 'rotten egg' smell. In that regard, it wasn't too different from the freshwater lake I live on in NC. Glad you enjoyed viewing the images, cambriaman!

I've said this before, but the Eastern Sierra and Yosemite are the Mecca and Al Medina for Landscape Photographers. So much to see, so much to Photograph, each bend in the road reveals more wonders.

Fabulous series Diane. All are beauties, but if I had to pick only one, it would be #2.

We were on the road before dawn in order to be at Convict Lake for first light. Anticipating temps in the 40's, I wore my Columbia rain jacket, but not my fleece. I was an icicle by the time I got back in the car. Later I saw where the recorded temperature that morning was 28 degrees. (Just a word to the wise, wear fleece. You can always take it off.) After a warming breakfast at Tom's Place, we drove up the Rock Creek Road to the John Muir Wilderness Area. Second lesson learned--never ask a hiker how difficult a trail is! After a rocky, strenuous (for us) hike, we reached the overlook to Mack Lake. Next stop was the Mammoth Lakes area where we went first to Mamie Lake, then crossed the road to photograph the waterfall created by the outflow from Mamie down to/and including Twin Lakes. Heading east, we went to the Hot Creek Geologic Site, then north to scout out Mono Lake for a nice location to return to for a sunrise. June Lake was our home base for the next three nights.

All so very true, Robert. But I would add that Colorado's San Juan Mountains are on par with the Eastern Sierras. Have you explored that region? If not, you have an amazing adventure in store.

Hi, Tom--glad you dropped in! Thanks to help from other Hoggers in planning this trip, I had quite the adventure. And the trip wouldn't have been complete without a visit to Convict Lake, one of the most impressive lakes I have ever photographed! Thanks for the thumbs up on that one!!

Thanks so much, phlash! (Saw where you put the LX100 up for sale and promptly sold it before I could get in touch. The airlines have beaten me down to where I am going to leave one of the DSLR's at home on the next trip and try to find a compact emergency backup.)
