Run, don't walk and have this image printed as a 16x24. Really nice work!

You might find the pic a bid dark on the wall. It looks perfect on screen. I printed on a 4x6 and it's very dark. you have to hold it in the light to see it. Boosting exposure for printing begins saturating some of the highlights.

Thank you. I try to get better each time I go out by challenging myself to do something different. This time it worked.

Larry, the download is stunning! Whatever were you doing when the bear was making his inspection of your equipment? Besides trying to still your racing heart! Thank you so much for sharing your story. The wall-worthy result makes me want to get out there and try some more. Good on ya!

The bear and I were having a conversation about how he needed to get lost and to avoid bumping into my camera gear. I had a nearly $6000 rig set up and did not want him to knock it down and damage the camera and lens. I walked in the opposite direction of the rig and finally resorted to throwing several rocks in his direction to hasten his departure. I'm not on his menu, and had nothing he wanted with me so as long as I posed no immediate threat to him I was not really worried.

I waited a half hour before approaching the camera after he left in case he was still in the nearby woods, but I could not hear him rooting around. Still, when I approached my camera, my heart rate ticked up a notch.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the advice. I adjusted the image for the web but if I decide to print it (PROBABLY WHEN) I'll redo the image. I also work with a professional lab that only deals with pro photographers, between them and myself, we will get it right. They have done well for me over the years.

Thanks for being concerned.

Why that size?? This was shot on my Nikon D810 with the 24-70 lens. I could print this much bigger if I wanted. :-) It will be for sale on my webpage shortly where I hope folks will buy it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I hope this becomes a best seller soon.
I'm really glad you liked the shot.
Regards, Larry

So if I understand it, you hiked into the site, set up yellow balloons over the lights inside the cabin, then set up your camera at the right time and place to capture the milky way in the background. Then in the process you encountered a curious bear? Is that right? All that to put together a memorable image. Wow, that is creativity. I can't even begin to imagine something like that that I could put together. You really made a beautiful image. Thank you.

Simply a fabulous image Larry. I realize you expended a lot of time and effort on it, but it certainly paid off.

Yep, you got it exactly right. Lots of planning, a bit of exercise and some serious sweating as the bear showed up. But yes, I got an image I really like.

Thanks for looking and coming along for the experience, even if it is virtual. :-)

Thanks so much tbell. I find that the images I work the hardest on are the ones that I like the best. It was an adventure I will remember for a very long time. Thanks so much for looking and commenting.
