Buyer beware I bought a nikkor 200-500 from them a couple months back I did no research on them I suggest you do before you purchase let me tell you my experience with them I found an ad for the nikkor 200-500. for $1069 I read the ad thoroughly sounded like a good deal again buyer be aware The next day I got a Email from them asking me to contact them immediately The contact name was Jeff so I call Jeff and Jeff informed me that the lens I bought is coming with no Len caps no tripod collar No lens hood Jeff informed me for another $400 I could have all he said it does not come with the lens I drop the $400 I could’ve bought the lens anywhere including the camera store across the street I am Immediately called my Nikon rap He informed me that all these assessor comes with the lens........ ugh The lens came as promised but the box had been opened under further inspection it turned out to be gray market I don’t necessarily have a problem with this if it needs to be worked on I have a third-party that specializes in Nikon lenses do your research online I found out that Jeff is a very popular man ..... 375 time There are complain about his business practice and The Better Business Bureau in their town had 31 complaints that are not resolved The best adevice I can give you is the deal with a reputable online camera store like B&h Do your online research make your decisions based on that I will never do business with them because of their bait and switch tactics if it’s too good to be true it probably is

Sounds like a variation of bait and switch bullshit....another of many reasons to avoid them like a plague. Worst part its probably grey market too.

Buyer beware!
I purchsed a lens from them back in the film days. It was not a positive experience. If you are spending a significant chunk of money, BE SURE you are dealing with a merchant of impeccable reputation and integrity, such as B & H or Hunt’s. The “savings” you get from a risky dealer may cost you more in the long run.

Agree with the masses. Adorama, B&H, Cameta, and KEH for used. I would also recommend MPB for used lenses - fair prices, honest descriptions, fast service.

Found a new camera store on internet located in N.J. called Abe' s of Maine. Need your opinion about this company. According to the website has been around since 1979 and is cheaper than B&H on Camera Equipment. My other son wants to spend over $10,000 on Camera Equipment and found a Sony a7rii for $500.00 cheaper at Abe's vs B&H. I know the old saying you pay for what you get. Abe's is also selling a 6 year drop replacement policy 100% $599.99 Sounds too good to be true. This is wht l am asking before he spends his hard earn cash and gets what he pays for!

Many years ago they bait-and-switched me and I ended up with a lousy lens. Never tried them again.

Run as fast as you can from Abe’s. It is NOT a good company to deal with.

In NJ try Unique Photo in Fairfield. Same prices as B&H through price match and lower NJ sales tax. Great store with a great reputation. Let me know what you think.

In typical UHH fashion, I wonder how many more pages members will fill up with their own recommendations, EVEN THOUGH THE OP REPLIED ON PAGE 2 THAT AN ORDER WAS ALREADY PLACED WITH B&H

And now you have your answer! I think there are two reasons this happens 1) People other than the OP may be reading any given thread and others may have suggestions for them. That contributes to thread drift on a lot of topics, as in any conversation. 2) It seems that quite a few people don't want to take the time to read the entire thread after it gets past a page or two.

I try to read every thread in full before responding. Accent on TRY.

I live in INDY,

Roberts will be my Number 1 store when the 7% advantage is gone...$700.00 is a lot of money to leave on the table.

If only Costco had a real camera department, Best over the counter Waranty Ever..

Roberts, has my vote...

They'd had a good reputation years ago when they were actually Abe's of Maine and were located in Maine. Not so any more, bait and switch outfit, avoid them.
The company changed hands and moved out of Maine, simply do a google search for Abe's of Maine reviews.

It has always been number 2. For the life of me, I can’t understand why someone wouldn’t read all the replies prior to posting.
