I just got a new lens Sigma 70-200mm f2.8, so wanted to try it out on my daughter. It seems like all the pictures have a white haze to them ??? Both pictures were shoot at focal length of 70mm,1/30, f/4, iso 100. I do not like shooting people but my wife thinks I should before the kids are gone from the house!! Any help would be a big Help!! Thanks

Some will disagree completely because it is common chat among the elite that a UV filter is a useless slab of inferior glass that doesn't do anything except deteriorate image quality, but I have personally seen a UV filter help this haze problem especially in partially shaded situations like your portraits.

I don't see the white haze you wrote about on either photo.

However, I would recommend doing what I did with both my Canon dslr cameras. I boosted the camera's contrast by two notches. Some times when the contrast is too low it's the brightness setting you're seeing as a haze.

Anyway after that setting change I find I like my shots much better. I'm also finding that I need much less post time to raise the contrast of my shots.

Try it, can't hurt. If you don't like it, switch back

As is so often the case, all the "corrections" except the ones by palepictures have made the images worse. Too much contrast and over sharpened.

Docrob is correct, IMHO. I would make some small adjustments to the contrast and levels and leave it as natural looking as possible. But, we would need more pictures of that girl to be certain! 😊

I'm not noticing any haze but a good idea is to get a hood for your lens... they are cheap, easy and fun to use!!!

BTW haze looks so beautiful in pictures!!!

I like this version although I would touch up the exposed skin on the chest to hid the now obvious tan lines.
