Even the most cursory look at history shows god has never been in control of anything. He certainly wasn't there for his "Chosen People" during World War II.

The planet, as Carlin said, will shake us off like a bad case of fleas.

But it's to be expected. Gould in one of his books commented the average lifespan of large mammalian species was about 5 million years. H.sapiens has been around for what, 200,000? Based on how we're doing right now, I think the odds of making 250,000 years are pretty slim and not sure I'd place a bet on making it to the next century.

Looking at the stunning images posted on here and watching documentaries you realise what a unique (in our solar system) planet we live on. Why then are there a minority of the human race hell bent on destroying it?

I think the answer to that comes from biology. Any organism attempts to proliferate itself as much as it can. It feels no responsibility to the ecosystem in which it lives. If other species do not proved balance the dominant species will succeed so well it kills everything, like the parasite that kills its host. The collective behavior go humans shows that we are no exception to natural law.

O, I see how this is moving, so I'll say it first;

There is a God who's in control.
Man will try and destroy each other and this planet, but it will never happen.

God created and sustains all things, and will intervene at His time.

Sleep peacefully my friends.

Man will destroy man , and the planet as we know it. The planet will survive in some form, man won't.

based on what?

So far, I'm right, lets see what happens!

"Stop with the negative waves, Moriarty!"
1. Is life meaningful?...Probably not.
2. Are we having fun?...We may as well be.

Sounds like a great philosophy.

I do not want to be sitting in a rocker on the porch thinking of all the things I should have done.

Good idea.
I'll go out an' sit in that ol' rocker on the back porch with a cat in my lap and watch the grass grow and let time go by.

Everybody who feels a need can argue over what wags their tongues as long as I don't have to listen to them blabberin'.
Dammit, why don't they learn something about stuff before opening that pie hole? Seem like with a lot of 'em, the less they know the louder they get.
