How fascinating, David! I have never heard of them but I guess it is the location that makes that true. Nice shots!

What a little beauty David, excellent downloads..

Hello Sylvia

They are a very pretty species. I have never found a location where they roost like that before. You can get the tripod out as they just won't be disturbed. Thank you for looking and for commenting, and the thumbup, always appreciated.

Beautiful, David! So you tiptoed through the ringlets rather than the tulips.

Hello merrytexan

Stumbled, tripped and fell more like, and still they didn't move! Thank you for looking and for commenting, and your humour , always appreciated.

A Ringlet Butterfly (Aphantopus hyperantus). I found about a hundred of them the other evening, settled to roost for the night in a small area of grass and scrub as it got dark. They seem to go into a torpor like state and you can move among them. Weird.

What a pretty little butterfly, David! And to find them in such numbers is fantastic! We don't have them in the States but do have some that are similar. Nice shot and glad you included a group shot as well!
