Looking for "universal" L Plate Bracket.
Interesting. Yesterday I read something on this subject. The pro photographer said to avoid universal L brackets if possible because often they block buttons or other elements on the camera body so you'd have to remove it when you needed access. I would go to a camera store and try some out to see if they are compatible.

I am looking to buy an L Plate Bracket. But there is none that's specifically made for my camera (Canon T2i). Anyone uses and is happy with a "universal" L Plate Bracket? Recommendations?
TIA.
I use the Acratech 1138 L Bracket. It is a little pricier than the Chinese special but includes a clamp so you can use the Arca Swiss plate on your cameras. They have 2 versions so check out their web site.
I wouldn't buy sight unseen an L bracket. I did have the opportunity to see a universal one in the flesh as it were. I happened to have the D850 with me and it took about 5 seconds to see that no way was it going to work. You cannot tell by looking at pictures. Almost nothing about it was going to work. So I got the camera specific bracket from SunwayFoto. Even that bracket could have done with a few small tweaks but it does work. The shaping or moulding on the bottom to fit a specific camera makes it all worthwhile as it will be far less likely to twist off. Which is a problem with all the quick release systems. I am changing from Manfrotto's RC system to Arca-Swiss because the A-S has a better system (probably because it has a larger area and wider apart rubber pads) for clamping onto camera bases. And that has been another expensive saga but so far well worth the money and time.

Although I much prefer RRS for this type of gear, I did purchase, and use, a 3 Legged Think L bracket last year when the D850 was released for use until RRS released their version. I found the 3 Legged Thing bracket to be a good solution if you only needed an something for temporary use. For long term use, the RRS is far superior, as it should be considering its price. It cost about $ 50 from B&H. Best of luck.
