Fantastic photos.
For a most beautiful bird Blue Jays have the worst temperament and most unpleasant voice.
Seems like you have it figured out. Great captures!

Good set of pictures, and thanks or the tip on the peanuts. Maybe it will work for me if the squirrels aren’t too fast.👍

Was having difficulty photographing blue jays because when I would pitch down a raw peanut in the shell they would swoop down and grab it (sometimes on the fly) and be back up in the tree before I could even find them in the viewfinder. So I tried pitching down 3 or 4 peanuts at a time and it solved the problem. Now they land and take a few seconds to survey the choices and make a decision of which peanut to take and this gives me enough time to capture their image. Not only that but instead of flying high up among the branches to eat they stay on a lower branch to keep an eye on the remaining peanuts so they can swoop down and grab another soon as they are finished with that one. This allows me to get a shot of them in the tree. Trying to outsmart a Blue Jay is exhausting.

the blue jay shots are really beautiful, Richard...good thinking and thanks for passing your idea on.
I agree - a wonderful set of pics and the fifth does bring a smile to my face. Thanks!
Beautiful images, Richard!
Thanks everyone for looking and for your comments.
Excellent idea. I am really new in this photographic field and I am learning new things every day. The first blue background is real or you edit something in Photoshop, this is so lively. I always get confused about my background colors. Sometimes I make it white in Photoshop. keep up your good work.
I always look for natural backgrounds. The blue background is the reflection of the sky from the lake.
