Thanks guys. Very helpful. I will be doing a helicopter excursion with a treck on a glacier as well as a boat excursion in somewhere other than Misty Fjord, which is where I am trying to get the flight. I found at least one flight excursion online so will contact them directly. Because it's partly a cruise, I will probably take the 35 mm, the 18-55 and 18-300. I have encountered only one instance (and it was on a plane) where I didn't have enough clearance to use the 18-300.

Another question regarding Alaska in general. Taking cruise then land Denali. Should a lug along my Tokina 11-16 mm F/2.8 wide angle lens or should 18 mm be sufficient? The Tokina is pretty hefty.

Heading to Alaska in 10 days. If I can schedule it (so far, the excursion is booked solid), I want to take one of the plane flights sightseeing over Misty Fjord. I will be using my Nikon D5300 (a DX camera). What lens should for taking photos from the plane? I own a 35 mm F/1.8, 18-55mm kit lens, and a 18-300 mm F/3.5-6.3.

I would check with the excursion company. They have probably been asked this before.

My Nikon D5300 is a DX half frame. As to the wide angle I am thinking more about from boats, on land at Denali--not from an airplane.

Half frame, what do you mean by that?

I’m thinking you may have recently returned from your trip. What were the photographic highlights? What didn’t work?
