Thank you for your post. Don't you hate when a business with a sterling reputation for 45 years and 14,000 five-star ratings on their app resorts to "deceptive business practices" to get a single order. What sadness.

Which business are you referring to? Surely not B&H.

UPS Next Day Air would deliver the package next business day so if you ship it Friday you will get it Monday. That deceptive too?

Same for both divisions of FedEx.

What, no apology? How about a new thread entitled "Mistake in Criticising B&H"?

Exactly B&H - what part are you questioning?

Lest anyone feel having to wait the weekend for next day shipping is an inconvenience, try living in Alaska where "next day" could mean up to a week at times. So when an online business states "next day delivery," I don't really expect it to arrive the next day. And I just deal with it.

Sometimes our expectations can be unrealistic...but the business that exceeds those expectations!!!! Will be more successful. If I am told my item will be delivered next Wednesday....and I'm disappointed that it will take so long...but I order it anyway and sigh an exasperated sigh...and it comes on TUESDAY! (which the business probably knew)..OH BOY...what a GREAT business!!!

It's all about expectations.

Thank you for your order and this feedback. We regret your dissatisfaction. It's now 1:00pm and right now the banner on our home page says this:
Most orders* over $49 qualify for Free Next Day Shipping (1 business day) to New York.
Orders placed after 4pm on weekdays will not ship until the next business day. Orders placed after 12pm Fridays will not ship until the following Monday.
Faster shipping methods may be available; just upgrade during checkout.
*Some exclusions apply

We regret and apologize if this was not sufficiently clear.

Just a word of warning regarding a deceptive business practice on the part of B & H. Today (Friday before Noon), I ordered an item.. a large font orange banner on the page declared "Free Next Day Shipping To (my location). When I checked out I learned that the free delivery was to be Monday, rather than tomorrow, Saturday. Several discussions with various unhelpful individuals at B&H resulted in no change to the delivery date. A condescending explanation was offered that next day delivery is actually next business day delivery (a big difference on a Friday order).

So, I hope listserve members recall this deceptive practice the next time someone sings the praises of B&H, and especially because when a certain online competitor that is frequently bashed on UHH offers free next day delivery for any particular item, Saturday delivery IS a part of their service.

TY

Orthodox Jews do not conduct any business from 2 hours or more before sundown on Friday, until after sundown on Saturday. Religious observance is NOT deceptive in the least. They just do Saturday instead of Sunday. If you are that serious about this, then you should demand that anything you order on the weekend be delivered on Sunday. Let me know how that works for you . . . Just sayin'

What's the EMERGENCY!

Are we ordering vital medical supplies or shipping human organs for transplant? Should our cameras and lenses be Medi-evacuated to us and rushed to our address by ambulance and police escort!

Seriously folks! I run a full time photography business. I purchase supplies and inventory from many out of town and foreign suppliers and import many items form the U.S.- I am in Canada. Many of theses items such as albums and picture frames that are not domestically available are for customers and are required to complete orders. I have a few items of gear that sometimes require service and repair and must be sent across the border. So...the solution is simple time management. I make certain that I have enough product on hand and when stocks begin to run low, I reorder well in advance. My delivery promises are based on realistic time delays on certain custom made albumes.

Equipment wise, I also plan in advanced and if a real emergency arises, I simply purchase it locally and may have to absorb the difference in price. I too. love to deal with the BIG New York Stores- the prices are good and the service is exemplary. I also like to support my local suppliers and maintaining good relations with them. I don't mind paying the extra points for very personalized service, being able to test out gear before making major purchases and many other professional courtesies that have been extended to me over the years.

Over the decades, I have had some pretty "hairy" experiences with UPS, both the Canadian and U.S. Postal Services, Fed-X and many others. Lost and misdirected shipments, damaged goods, late deliveries- you name it!

Theses days, if the U.S. Administration packs in NAFTA and free traded ends,
I probably will import very little or nothing from the U.S., what with customs duties, additional taxes and brokerage fees. Photographic goods coming in from the U.S. into Canada will carry anywhere from 17.5 TO 33 1/3% plus 13% Federal Sales Tax. Add the exchange to that- NASTY!

I am not very religious but I do believe that everyone, even those in business, deserve
a sabbatical day of rest. Nowadays everyone expects everything to be open for business virtually 24/7. It's insane- many small business folks have no family life.

Funny- I operate my business in a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood. My residential neighbors get more "brown truck" deliveries that most of the businesses. Does anyone shop locally anymore? Do the go to STORES? Folks don't even go out for pizza and fast food anymore- they order online! Now they order the fruits and vegetables online and have them delivered. I guess I am too old school- I like to smell the bread, cull the veggies and handle the cameras over the counter most of the time.

By the way- I think posts headlining derogatory and false remarks about honest business should be deleted on this forum. It's not fair to the good folks at B&H to have that kind of nonsense disseminated on the site.

The OP is yet to apologize for over-reacting. Next day shipping does not mean next day delivery, but that's apparently what the OP was expecting. In a majority of these anti B&H threads they usually end with the issue being a misunderstanding by the original poster or a poster with a sense of entitlement and unwilling to accept anything less than their view of how the world should work. B&H is not perfect, and they occasionally make mistakes, but in the end they are generally rectified to the customers satisfaction. In the overwhelming scheme of things their service is exemplary. The world seems to be is full of self-righteous complainers. I hope the OP is not one of them.
