Try Serif Photo Plus x4 which is a free download. Also, Serif PanoramaPlus x4 is also free download. I upgraded several years ago and bought the San Serif Plus upgrade version for $25 (several years ago). It works well and has a lot of similarities to Adobe Elements. I use Elements because it easier to use and master 1 program rather than several. There are several other freebies also on the web. Sometimes another program will do something Elements won't. PIXLR is another free download fairly intuitive. If you want to manipulate and improve photos long term, I would get Adobe Elements. I use Elements 9 and Elements 11. Newer versions, up to Elements 2018 now don't seem to offer much more so I'll stick with 9&11. 9 is my preference and is likely cheap because there are newer versions. It has a dark background and tools on the left rather than below, which I don't like. 11 also has a white background I don't like. It takes time to learn it but will serve you forever, and you may or may not want to upgrade later. Even the newest Elements usually sell for $80 or so new. Elements also has beginner type options of Guided, Quick, and Full options. The first two are for those who don't want to get in too deep. They may be all you need.
See if you can find Elements 9.0 on ebay or Amazon would be my suggestion.

I have been looking for a replacement for Picasa and haven't found one to my liking. Using MyFinePix Studio, Canon Zoom Browzer EX and ACDsee. ACDsee is way to deep for me and I don't want to learn it. The others are no bargain, but I can't straighten out a crooked picture. Picasa was the best for me and did everything I wanted to do and did it easily. The best thing in Picasa was the filing system, with Folders and Albums. The problem now, as you know, is that it is not supported and has become corrupted. Help please! bizzard1037@gmail.com Buzzard Bob

This issue, like many others, like Win10, are a complete dogs breakfast. Why, when they have a popular programme, do they have to stuff it up. They show their arrogance in thinking they update, when in practice, they completely wreck what was a popular programme.
Is it a commercial ploy to encourage sales?? Not in my case, & I dare say, many others, it drives me to give it away.
Picasa is great for the less technically minded, it does things other programmes don't do, unless you're a rocket scientist.
If they don't want to update their programmes, then make it still available to those who love it.
It makes me mad!!!

I don't understand. Picassa is still available for download. It's just not being supported anymore but the download is available and usable.

Hello Buzzard Bob,

At age 75 I'm close to your 81. With a lifetime of film (negative and transparency) I moved to digital about 10 years ago and have never really made the transition. I have used Picasa much longer than 10 years, but when it was taken down a few years ago I 'lost' most of my understanding and application of what I had been doing with my files. I had been using ACDC before but I seem to have 'lost' the concept.

I'm reviewing and filing many images and I'm wanting to get my Vietnam, Asia and San Francisco-fused images in play.

Your comments and frustrations resonate.

Buzzard Bob again. I am not sure how to continue this on this Website. I sent out a note on downloading Picasa, but my Malwarebytes won't let me...says the sites are contaminated with either Pups or Malware. What do I do.

It can be downloaded from any number of sites. I did it after I started to miss it. Works just fine

You are correct, but many of those sites have malware. That is why I offered a download from my Dropbox.

Many times my luck has provided a better result than acquired skill!!

Loved Picasa but knew had limitations and keep delving into Lightroom. To me Google Photos is similar to Picasa ... very easy.

I use Windows 10 and often use an app called Photos. Simple to use and easy to straighten images.
