I have been looking for a replacement for Picasa and haven't found one to my liking. Using MyFinePix Studio, Canon Zoom Browzer EX and ACDsee. ACDsee is way to deep for me and I don't want to learn it. The others are no bargain, but I can't straighten out a crooked picture. Picasa was the best for me and did everything I wanted to do and did it easily. The best thing in Picasa was the filing system, with Folders and Albums. The problem now, as you know, is that it is not supported and has become corrupted. Help please! bizzard1037@gmail.com Buzzard Bob

Have you tried uninstalling Picasa and reinstalling it? If not, give it a try. Most people tend to recommend much more functionally rich software as easy to use. But, all of those software packages, while significantly better than Picasa, also require a significant learning curve regardless of what people might tell you. The post just following this one is a perfect example. Lightroom, while a great piece of software, has a very significant learning curve compared with Picasa, regardless of that posters statement about it being easy to use. The official Lightroom book has almost 1000 pages. There are a few light weight and easy to use solutions. Are you using a Mac or a PC? What operating system are you using?

Lightroom - for me it has short initial learning curve and the newest version added some nice presets. Has a nice straightening slider, easy to use. LOTS of online lessons and tips.

I have used Picassa since I bought my first DSLR. I feel your pain. Corrupted how? I'm still using it and I have noted a few glitches. Not enough to go actively looking for a replacement though.

Faststone image viewer (site of the same name) is free, (donation), a bit more complex than Picasa, Can be downloaded to run on your computer, has a mobile version you can put on a flash drive and use on any other computer without installing, AND it has a very usable 90 page PDF "tutorial".

http://www.faststone.org/

Safest to download from the Faststone site...safe site, no crapware or spyware.

Use the parts you want, but it does have some more complex tools, EXIF information, and some batch processing utility.

I've used it for over ten years, primarily because I resist extensive post processing. Faststone allows me to shoot more than PP images.

I downloaded Picasa from a site that purports to still function. Did it about a week ago. I am on Windows 10 and ran 7, upgraded to 10 on the same computer.

I rarely ever have computer problems, but Picasa V3 locks up on my computer regularly. I also put it on my Windows 10 laptop which is reliable. Locks it up as well. Uninstalled Picasa from both computers with no ill effects.

It's hopeless in my book, folks!

I just installed Picassa 3 on my laptop within the last hour and it runs perfectly with no hiccups. I normally run Lightroom and Photoshop but wanted to make sure Picassa 3 would work under Windows 10 for a friend. It's good to go.

I recommend Paint.Net. It's light weight and does most of what you ask. As this is a user supported program, the HELP may be less than ideal, however, it will do 98% of what you need. Donations are more than welcome but the program is free to use.

Thanks for the answer. Haven't tried to reinstall Picasa, but will try. The learning curve n ACDsee is awful and am not interesting in going in that direction. I am 81 yrs. old, but I have taken thousands and thousands of pictures over the years. I have used many Canon cameras as well as Fuji and Kodak, film and now digital. The fact remains that I am not of the current generation and find learning more then I can bear. Thanks, Buzzard Bob

Thanks for the info. Picasa unloads most of my pictures and I have to wait for it to reload...then when I am doing something with the folders or albums, it does it again. Ugh!

I tried Picasa a couple of times but don't remember what all it does. I would agree with another of your responders and give Faststone Image Viewer a chance to prove itself. It is free. It does some filing. It is a great image viewer and has some simple viewing, adustment, cropping, resizing, etc functions. You can apply borders, text, water marks, and cloning. You can copy or move files to different folders and make simple slide shows. You can rename files and delete files. Just an all around easy to use program. I have used it for many years and I love it. It won't cost you anything so you have nothing to lose. Have a GREAT DAY!

Every other week someone mournfully posts about Picasa's death.

It is alive and well despite not being supported by Google.

I am running Mac High Sierra and using Picasa every day. I have the big boys, but never ever use them because, for me, Picasa and PhotoScape X do everything I need, quickly and well.

Hi, I also use Picasa, but as it is no loger being supported, as I am on widows 10l i use photos, which is in the menu and find it to not only easy to use, but very good, it is a junp up from Picasa, but you do not have to be a Boffin to understand. Also I have also downloaded Photoshop elements express, which is a free one, and use that, also easy to understand and use,
Try these as they wont cost you anything, and I think you will be very pleased with the results, I know I am...
