Also by the way,
I think the Miss Universe Contest is rigged.

A human has won every year ! ! !

What do you expect? They're all from Earth!!!

I live in New Jersey and my wife and daughters used to go down for the parade; it will be interesting if they continue the tradition of the contestants wearing exotic shoes - the crowd would shout "show me your shoes." Ironically the contest started as a swimsuit competition. We seem to evolving to a society where people have little to aspire to. I remember growing up girls wanted to be the next Miss America. Most heterosexual men tuned in to see the swimsuits from my experience with my friends - a little secret guys like to see girls in swimsuits. Are we going to be next looking at "participant trophies?" We generally are a competitive species. The women in prior contest were judged not only on beauty but also talent and brains. They were supposed to represent the "American Ideal." I have fears of having a Woody Allen look-a-like (that was great by the way) winning. From a photography standpoint if we ask to photograph an attractive man or woman for art purposes in today's world your motives are questioned. Can you imagine da Vinci doing the Mona Lisa if it looked like Wood Allen? It might be kept in the basement of the Louvre. Its why I stick to family, landscapes and birds - I did think I got a dirty look from a goose for taking photos of a lady duck the other day. My 2 cents.

Ah...they're now judging the brain rather than the beauty...the judges will need to be blindfolded or put with their chairs turned backward a la ‘The Voice.’

Viewers will dwindle for this pageant...much like the NFL loosing a lot of their audience with the players being disrespectful during the National Anthem.

I won't be watching PC pageants. Same with girls joining the boys scouts....No use in paddling across the lake anymore...

Listening to the "brain dead" answers these women give to inane questions leads me to believe that without swim suit competition the "Pageant" is doomed...

While there is more important news going on in the world, a recent announcment came stating that the Miss America contest is eliminating the swimsuit competition so that more attention is paid to the entrants' brains and character than their beauty. Poor move, IMHO. While the contestants are given every opportunity to showcase their intelligence, personality, and character, it has always been, in large part, a beauty contest. Eliminating the swimsuits in this pageant is like getting rid of fighting in the NHL. Any thoughts on this trivial matter?

The entire pageant is dying and just needs to be forgotten. IMHO no one cares a fig about this or the Miss Universe pageant anymore.

We’ve stopped watching hockey when they expanded from the original 6 teams, it as become a sissy game where the so-called players only give a fuck on the last year of their contract.
I’d like to see them playing with the body protection of the sixties 90% would be home recovering from « injuries »

Mayor DeBlasio calling NYC elite High Schools racist . Quotas for air traffic controllers . Climate change etc etc etc
It’s the way Leftists stay in power , by immersing themselves into every aspect of our lives through rhetoric and emotion and ultimately by intimidation . Look at the millennials today , or most of them . Emotional basket cases driven by radicalism and agendas designed to increase governmental controls .
Isn’t wearing a swimsuit an innocent thing ? Where are we heading ?

Lately, I attempt(failing often) to avoid things political, But let me be transparent here,"to coin a phrase",...I agree exactly with all you just said. That doesn't make me a republican and I am NOT a democrat either, They are both (parties) screwing us.It is sickening to watch the goings-on in our country, now. I just hope that Trump as an independent thinker, can do as he wishes, and make middle american patriots, strong and great again. Ya know that the single facet of governing that the TWO sick parties would always AGREE on, is "NO-THIRD-PARTY" But that is the only thing they would work in concert against... So many fools. RJM

In view of this change, and in the interest of making sure that no unintended bias influences the judges, I think all the contestants should be required to wear burqas.

Debating whether to chime in again or not. If they want to do the pageant then let it be as was done originally. To have beauty, brains and talent in one package is a rare commodity. And of the are so endowed let it be appreciated. Some on here would think nothing of spending thousands of dollars and fly half-way around the world to honor their basketball star. The which will never be conclusive. These women represent the best each state has to offer unlike the ungrateful athletes. Who take the money and moan, protest, and demonstrate. We need heros and not a bunch of wantabe complainers.

Just a thought. Over the years the swimsuit part has evolved for fully covered to barely covered. What has caused all of this? It must be the loosening of morals. But that is besides the story. Now with moral relaxed they want to eliminate what they think is the problem. Hmm... Pretty soon the moral thing comes full circle.
I must admit that the women of today look much better than they did in the thirties.

I'm with ya there, Paul. A good one piece suit can certainly reveal (so to speak) a woman's finer assets in a much classier way.
