Appreciate your advice MT on this. I agree that flash could be in troublewith this sling given the hustle and bustle of weddings. With the very strong possibility of using fill flash outdoors, now thinking this may not be a viable set up. Thank you for your perspective.I will have to give this further consideration.

I think Optech may be the choice for me. Thanks to everyone for their input. Have a question for anyone - how do these work with flashes attached, or is the use best for outdoors without attached flash? I am thinking of getting one for an upcoming wedding.

I have never used one with a flash attached to the body while working, all my shooting is outdoors, and when I have a flash with me its safe in a vest pocket. I think it would matter as to how much you were moving around during the shoot, that flash is in a pretty vulnerable position if you're not careful.

This is what I use, works great and VERY comfortable for all day wear with 2 bodies.

Love this! Very cool... been looking for something like this. Does it work for Canon cameras too? <joke> :-)

It will if you use the slow focus converter, I have a spare if you need one, only $50 shipped!

Optechs are not only super comfy, they use the camera strap connectors to suspend the camera instead of the tripod socket. I've been using Optech products for 25 yrs. and have never been disappointed with comfort or quality.

I will never use a device that puts any kind of shear pressure on the tripod mount of my cameras. Buy two long camera straps, put them on opposite shoulders, and if necessary get two old diaper pins (relics of pre-Pamper days) to hold them there.

Why would you want to jerry-rig something like that which probably won't even work when there are products like this on the market that are MADE to do the job?

That would be fine! Actually my Domke vest lets me carry two cameras on separate straps secured by the epaulets.

I also use the Domke vest, comes in handy with the OpTech Double Sling when I need to carry 3 bodies. The D-Rings on the face of the vest are a perfect fit for the OpTech attachment loops to quick-attach the third body. All bodies are interchangeable to attach in any of the three positions that way. Quite comfortable to carry that way also because of the OpTech shock-absorbing system and the Domke shoulder padding.

3 camera setup.
3 camera setup....

Optech looks good but I have issues with plastic quick release buttons. When I sling my Nikon D3s around my shoulder, Black Rapid is the best.

My original OpTech has been slinging my F4S and then my F5 with 80-200mm F2.8 over my shoulder for over 30 years without a single problem, carries my D800E still today with a 70-200mm F2.8. Nothing better, and it won't rip the tripod socket out of your body either!

Okay. I am convinced. Ordering an Optech double sling tomorrow. Found this bad boy on Amazon for 26 bucks + shipping. I will work something out for the flash. I think it's do-able.

I hope you got the "Double Sling" and not the "Double Harness". They are VERY different and the harness model does not control your gear nearly as well. Good luck with it, they are impressive for the price.

They need someone in their naming department with more imagination. Even now when people ask what I use, I don't know. All I know is that it's a "Double..."

[EDIT: I checked OP/Tech's site. It's the "Dual Harness" and the "Double Sling." When they introduce a third variation, they'll probably call it the "Duo Strap." :D]

Names are important. If I could snap off the name of the sling when someone asks, OP/Tech might make a sale. Otherwise, the potential customer could drift around on the web and find something else.

Speaking of names, the drug companies also need a good naming dept. When I show a doc or nurse my list of Rx, and they struggle to pronounce them, there's need for a new name. To make it worse, many drugs have a weird brand name and a weird generic name, so you can screw up the name of the drug twice.

Rest assured that is not plastic used on the quick release for OpTech straps. That is composite material invented for the space age. I was a little concerned too until I found out it was the same material used on a sculpture bearing a load. It's been outside in the wind and elements for over 20 years. It looks the same as the day it was put in.
