Pulling stills works very well. The result is an 8mp JPEG that can hold up fairly well for printing. Lightroom, as well as other common software, makes it easy.

No, I don't do video at all!
It is not just video. With some of the newer cameras from Panasonic and Sony, it is continuous burst 8mp JPEG shooting at 60 frames per second.

Has 4K changed anything for you?

-Do you have a 4K TV?
-Have you made a 4K slideshow?
-Do you shoot 4K video?
-Have you watched your own 4K clips on a 4K TV?
-Do you edit 4K video?
-Have you captured JPEGs from 4K footage?
-Have you made a print from a captured 4K JPEG?

Nothing, have watched a few movies in 4K, but I was not impressed

My Panasonic uses 4K to do focus stacking in camera. I have used it a couple of times and it works.

You should try viewing your own photos on it. Maybe even try making 4K slide show.

If you are a Lightroom user, you can use it to "develop" some favorite RAWs and put them in a slideshow for your new, bigger, better TV at four times the resolution of what we've been doing for a decade.

The newer 4K models have enough computer in them that you can control you slide show with the TV remote. You'll never miss your Kodachormes on an old Kodak Carousel again!

I like it. I have a 4KTV. I watch 4K blu ray on it. I view some images that I took on it, with 8MP it's great.
I tried 4K video with my iphone but it's kinda bad.

I have a 65” 4K SUHD Samsung .. have an APPO 4K player and $1,200 In 4K DVDs ...My D850 shoots 4K.video ..,. and My APPO will accept the SD card ..haven’t tried to shoot 4K with the 850 and play it .., it should work ..In fact I never used my video with my D800E.., and the D810 .., never even tried it..

I know I can shoot 4K in the GO PRO and put the SD card into my 4K OPPO player and it displays 4K on the 4K Samsung .., just great stuffffff..

What has 4K done for me.., you ask ..well My premium NetFlix plays 4K movies And documentaries...and the enhanced picture / clarity brings the pictures to an amazing stunning reality ...like better cameras and lenses .. most photographers strive for clarity.., well the same for tv ...

Why do photographer by RETINA screens on Macs etc and 4K monitors ... for a more precise viewing and editing ...

Our son just bought QLED 65” .., which replaces the 4K ... wow what a leap from Regular 4K TVs ..

Basically 4K anything costs $$$ ..,just to get a clearer look at ...at least 50-70 % of the HOGGS would say .., “my digital / HD tv is just fine ‘ it’s all I need ...

With my glasses .. binoculars...cameras ..telescope .. I always strive to get more clarity ..., well that’s what 4K anything and above gives me ..and it is getting cheaper as more and more it becomes the norm ..surpassed by OLED/ QLED .. heck the 8K is being readied as we speak and the first sets will be shown at the next CES show ...
But what do I know ,, some hogs still have VHS ... so whatever works for you and your happy with it .., that’s all the counts ..!!

Chasing better anything be it cameras .., lenses …, TVs .., 🚗cars .., cost $$$$ .. as I near retirement ...that becomes a major factor ....

Not really. Check the TV prices and choices. 4Ks have become cheaper than the HDs of only a few years ago. So, if you need a TV, 4K is a good choice.

Once a photographer has one, he can change a little of the workflow and slideshows are greatly improved.

So for a photographer shooting with good cameras, a big 4K TV is justifiable just for viewing his/her own work.

If you go to photography trade show, Panasonic will be the one pushing 4K more than anyone else.

At one local show the Panasonic people had a stack of big prints from Canon's best printers. All of them were out of the 4K tools in the Panasonic firmware.

What is 4K? I see that designation everywhere?

You could try Googling it. It's screen resolution. High definition or 1080p is a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. 4K is actually 4 times to he resolution of high definition with a resolution of 4096 x 2160. The 4096 is where the term 4K comes from.

I have two Samsung 40" 4k televisions that I purchased from Costco last Black Friday for $299 each. They are incredible to watch, with images so sharp they seem almost three dimensional with well shot program material. Very noticeably better than the somewhat smaller high-definition sets they replaced. I also have a Samsung 28in 4k computer monitor which cost $270 last Black Friday. Not only is it great for image editing, but it's terrific for watching Netflix and Amazon Prime videos at my desk in my home office, and doing general work in programs like Microsoft Office. Once you have a large 4K computer monitor, it's hard to work with anything smaller. And while top-of-the-line current models can be pricey, 4K monitors and TVs in general are not pricey at all.

My first 4K camera was the relatively inexpensive Panasonic LX100 compact "travel" camera I was given 3 years ago. I use it for both stills and video. Some of the clips have produced pleasing prints at 13x19 from a Canon Pro-100.
