In your first sentence, move the comma after the word "kept" to after the word "lose".
In your third sentence, use "that" instead of "which" since the noun is followed by a restrictive clause. Unless you learned British English, then you can have a pass for that one.
In your fourth sentence you need a space after the word "will". On second thought, there are so many grammatical errors in this sentence I would suggest deleting it and trying again.
In your final sentence, move the period inside the closing parenthesis. This is done when a sentence is started with an open parenthesis.
You would know all this if you paid attention in grammar school.
In your first sentence, move the comma after the w... (show quote)

Do you carry a computer with you? If so, buy a 2tb external he, they are inexpensive and small, and you can transfer/copy photos to the drive daily. If you have access to decent wifi, then also upload to the cloud. Then reformat the card and reuse. Cards are so cheap now, you can also buy more 64 gig cards. Buy a metal carrier for your cards, inexpensive and will help protect them and make finding them in your camera bag easier.

I agree with you, but you’re calling out the wrong person. I think you may have missed the prior post he was replying to. He wasn’t being a “grammar cop”, he was responding to the grammar troll who had rudely critiqued another member’s misspelling by pointing out that people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones...

That is exactly what Mark did, just one card was missing, and would the result have been the same if one card had failed? That is the question.

The simple answer is "yes". That being said, high quality brand name flash memory is very reliable. If on the other hand, the camera itself fails, that is a completely different matter. As a matter of good data management, I always backup to multiple media each day regardless if it is camera data or other data. Any computer professional will implore you to backup frequently on a minimum of three different media including offsite backup. As I have previously stated, I backup on the second flash card in my camera, to the internal and external working hard drives in my iMac and to my five drive Drobo RAID system. In addition, I frequently swap one of the mirror image hard drives in the Drobo with another drive that I keep in my bank safety deposit box for offsite protection.

Actually, I was replying to the wrong thread (possible “senior moment”). There is another concurrent thread where the OP (Mark) lost an entire shoot because he only had a single card in a dual card body (5D3) and it was set to record to both cards in raw simultaneously. Since one reason for dual card recording is safety, the question became, would the result have been the same if one card had failed, and if so, what’s the point of the redundancy?

I am preparing for a 3 week trip to Europe. It will include a 10-day river cruise (Basel to Amsterdam). Judging from my past experience, I will take between 500 and 750 photos. I use a D750 which will allow up to 292 RAW, lossless, 14 bit compressed photos per 16GB sd card. My question is: Is it better to take more 16GB cards, thus minimizing loss of photos if a card is lost or malfunctions; or to take fewer but larger capacity cards?

Any advice out there?

A lot of great suggestions have been presented. I use 32GB cards for my Canon 80D (about 600 RAW+JPEG photos per card) and download daily if possible. I have all of my memory cards freshly reformatted by my camera before I leave and try to have enough so that I don't need to reuse them while on the trip. One issue is keeping track of which memory card is which. One thing I find works well to keep track of which is which is to number each SD case. My camera bag has a pouch with a Velcro closure where I keep my cards. To label the card cases, use a fine tip Sharpie permanent marker and write on the adhesive part of a Post-it note (3"x 3" or larger) and cut that part out to make a label about 1/2" square, then put the label on the inside of the card case so the number is visible on the outside. Using this method, you don't have to worry about the label being knocked off or smudged. Use the cards in numerical order.

BTW, when I go to the sports car races, I normally shoot JPEG only, which gives me about 3,000 images per card. However I shoot about 3,000 photos per day, so the card size still works for me. Shooting the fast action, I end up in "spray and pray" mode a lot and high speed panning is a challenge. I also shoot a few short video clips per day. I usually end up deleting about 1/3 of my photos immediately, as they are either bare track, don't have a whole car in them or are out of focus. With so many photos, I just don't have time to shoot in RAW and do post processing; it's all I can do to cull out the best photos.

Nope, I'll bet he doesn't. You see, he's lost in his own little world of perfection that he thinks you're referring to someone else. I usually make one comment and let it go. We used to have one jerk (now banned) who would criticize each typo or missed comma - and then attack anyone who said anything. I'll admit I like a good fight, but not when others are trying to help someone. I do, however, stay out of the Attic; those fights are insanne (and yes, I deliberately misspelled a word; let the Grammer Gestapo and Spelling Spetsnaz sue me)!

Since storage is so cheap, take at least one card for each day.
Changing the card does two things, it keeps the data for the specific date and then allows you to be secure in your captures.
I have a waterproof case that holds 12 cards. If you are going to be gone to a dirty place, these cases take the "chance" of dirt covering your cards out of the camera.
Enjoy your trip.

I've traveled in Europe (although my trip was for 10 days), but you might consider increasing the number of cards just a little bit, as depending on where you go, the number of pictures could easily be greater than 200/day, and you'll have use of those cards for long after that time. With the second card backup and a 2 T small HD, that would give you 3 copies. Depending on where you stay, the availability of high speed internet, and cost can vary. Unlike in the US, it may not be free, and might not word for large file backup. I hope you have and incredible trip, and please share just a couple of your best when you get back, or at least share a link.

I brought my lap top and back up hard drive on our 6-week western trip and downloaded the day’s shots. Then reformatted for the next day. I took 2 32 cards. Much easier to keep track of where we were. Can’t imagine dealing with a bunch of cards, but that’s just me. Enjoy your trip!
