We had a dog who looked very much like your "before" picture. Her fur also became matted and impossible to brush, so we decided to have the groomer give her a severe hair cut. But the amzing part of our story is as follows: This was an older and acted like an older dog, but after the hair cut she became absolutely puppy-like -- running, jumping, playing like never before. Did you experience anything similar?

After he gets used to it he is much more active - he can see where he is going?

Looks like two different dogs to me! Are you sure you got your Baby Bantha back?

Yeah, and in spite of the trauma he remembers where all his favorite places are and where I keep the dog treats. Also still recognizes the sound of me opening one of the packages of treats

He also recognizes the voice of Mama, the lady who sometimes brings them cuttings or left over meat. My wife came to the toddler gate that keeps them in the family room and both of them broke the sound barrier getting there to see what she had for them.
