I’m thinking you need a shave and a cigarette.

No thanks to the cigarette. Quit when they were less than 50 cents.

Background is interesting, but see below. Composition is OK. Exposure is very good for shiny objects. You should crop out the shadow near the top of the image as it distracts.

As for other suggestions to improve the image AND the message:

- you could have added a few loose short-and-curlys, with some stuck in the razor (action shot, so to speak)
- you could have used a vintage shaving cream brush with some lather in place of the Zippo
- you could have used a nude body as the background, perhaps from the navel down to... wherever
- with all the above taken together, you could have given us a 4-shot sequence: before; preparing; during; and after.

It's not too late to redo this for your friends on UHH 😜

Got the idea in the shower. Used a cell phone for the shot. Had not dressed, so it was true nude photography. The case is not a Zippo,it is the blade case. Had no more appropriate nude body or short curly's handy, sorry. Also brought to mind the discussion about not asking a model to do what you would not, at least till the safety razor was invented. Have a good evening, Bill.

Thanks for the clarification on the blade case; and I like your line that this was true nude photography. As for executing my suggestion, telling the model that you would be willing to do it does not obligate you to actually do it. You could say, "You first," and then renege and say you changed your mind. Of course, that might be the last time you would work with that model.

It's all good fun!!

I would add that Polaroid helped to bring shooting naked/nudes more mainstream because everyone willing now became a model without having to find a lab that would process your photos. Then obviously digital cameras was the explosion.

BTW, you always have a few "short curlies" available, or are you saying you are bald on top and bottom? (giggles)

I have short/long curlies everywhere... top, bottom, face, arms, legs, chest, back... too much, actually, for my liking. As a young teen I longed for a few “manly” chest hairs and got more than I needed; I feel I am proof of our evolution.

LOL... when young I had a sales mgr that told me the ole cliche "be careful what you wish for" but added "because the gods have a keen sense of humor". I have been careful ever since but have seen that come true over and over in life for others.

Bull Durham was two cents for a bag and papers. A Coke bottle could be redeemed for two cents . I learned to smoke and roll my own at ten. Came in handy in the 70's. As for leaving a hair, I got in hot water(we called it deep s----) for having one on my soap during an Air Force basic training inspection, never will forget it.Dirty soap. You figure. Thanks for helping start the day with a grin, Bill.

I remember when my aunt and uncle lived with us during WWII and bought cigarettes at the grocery store for $2.00 a carton! I never did take up smoking, I thought it was too expensive and not a natural thing to do.
