Sorry,I am going to exercise my first amendment rights. You have the right to not read this. For you who have not seen what a cell phone will do with add on lenses. I don't claim these to be anything special, but I will say I was surprised and pleased.1&2 are a normal, then a 50 x shot of same boat. The rest were with a 235 degree fisheye.

To be brutally honest, the boat shots suck. The fisheye shot is very nice. It works very well on the internet, but it's less than 5mp. It won't blow up in print very well.

I hate to see when my Dslr pictures are worse than other people's SP's but my SP pictures are worse than my Dslr's.
So I will keep on shooting Dslr.

OK, this is it, really end of discussion, no mas.

Sorry, I claim my right to the first amendment. These are not taken to be anything but examples of what a cell phone can do with add on lenses. 1&2 are norm, then 50 x of same boat. The rest a 235 degree fisheye.

I agree. Not much money invested. I rested the 50 x lens on window of car. As I said, just for information, no claim to being close to even a poor dslr. Don't you hate insomnia?

Same here: Only when I type it happens. I transpose letters in words, and also add letters. Particular words even today I have never learned to spell automatically -- seems like a mental block requiring extra attention to correct.

This disorder made learning to write and spell an ordeal in grammar school. I couldn't spell or write into my '20s. Later, I finally put my mind to overcoming these deficiencies.

Interestingly, I have no problem reading.

Today, the schools assess students for such disorders, so I hear.

Seems to only happen while typing. Maybe some previously undiscovered brain disorder. I think I'll leave my brain to science. On second thought.....

Contractions are the most misspelled words I see .... their, they’re, there, for example.
For me I like spell check but it don’t help because they are all legitimate words.

Only "They're" is a contraction. Remember a simple rule: Do you mean to say 'they are'?; then use the contraction. Are you talking about possessions? It's "their". If it's anything else, it's "there".

This also works for "Your" and "You're", something I learned in days of yore.

"It's" and "its" are equally easy - if you can substitute "It is", use the contraction, otherwise it's its.

You’re exactly right Andy !
I don’t think I have any problems with contractions. That’s why it bothers me when I see them misused !
This is off-thread from DSLR Vs. Smartphone so I’m ending it right now !

May I beg to differ for a moment? No need for the spaces between the word and the exclamation mark (or point in America). 😜

Ah yes, I know about the space. It’s a habit I’ve gotten into. I post with some Europeans and a couple of Asians and started doing that to them.
I’ll try to stop it but I don’t promise!
Incidentally, I’m 97 years old and should know better.

For me, it's a matter of looking at it primarily as a system issue. I can expand a DSLR system according to my needs, almost without limitation. I don't think you can say that about cameras in phones without being pretty restrictive on your needs.

For me, it's not a DSLR vs. anything issue, since I don't have a DSLR.
As for the smartphone, I only use it when I have to.

My wife takes photos ONLY with her cell phone...not interested in a camera. And she takes some danged nice shots. She's not a pro but she's happy with her phone...and in that sense, she's a lot like me. I take photos to please myself...not others. I'll post on of her shots later.

My wife uses her iPhone for all her photos. She shoots some nice photos. She's no pro but she shoots photos that make her happy.

Cell phones are for communicating (talking, messaging). Cameras are for taking pictures. I have a Canon PowerShot S95 that I carry with me at all times. I can adjust aperture, speed, ISO, etc. Can't do that on a phone.

I can now do all those with the Galaxy S9+. And I did most of those things with my old Galaxy S7. Yes, the aperture and lense selection is limited. But I don't have to carry my E-M1 mrII. If your cellphone can't adjust aperture, speed, ISO, RAW+JPEG, etc., your cellphone must be fairly old. If you would look at the new available cellphones, you might start leaving your Canon PowerShot S95 home in favor of the new cellphone.
