Funny how a question about lens lock became a discussion about converters.

I answered the original then when asked by the OP about converters answered that as well.

I really don't know how much an ass was worth, all I can tell you that this thread has become so confused that I accidentally doubled posted and no one has fussed at me for the double post. In fact, I think that I am the only one currently following this thread, LOL. (as MT Shooter would say) Hello, hello?!?!

Remember that road game where one would accumulate points for seeing animals like cows and horses? How much was an ass worth?

Didn't your new lens come with a small manual explaining all 5 thinks you need to know about your new lens?

Sorry for taking so long to respond, but no, there was no manual with the lens. That's why I asked. Unfortunately, I'll probably not ask questions here again. I really don't appreciate some of the unkind, rude, and just plain insulting responses. I am not an idiot, and I am extremely proficient on the computer, so google should be my friend. Sorry, I don't mean to take my frustration out on you, you were just kind enough to ask a simple question. Again, there was no manual with the lens. I bought it on sale through Adorama, it was new, but the box only contained the lens, hood, ring, and case.

If you can find someone who can read, have them read the instruction manual to you. (Page 7).

I have no idea who you are, but you are the rudest person that I have had the misfortune to run into on this forum. What about my post made you think that you have the right to talk to me this way? There WAS NO INSTRUCTION MANUAL included with my lens. If there had been, I would have gladly read it and saved you the opportunity to post your snarky remark. If you took the time to type your response, you could have also taken the time to either skip it, or try to be a decent human being by asking if perhaps the manual was missing.

There is good advice to be found here. Unfortunately there are also many outright trolls who have nothing better to do than to make snarky comments. I have found a commonality among these types of people. For the most part they have nothing to contribute and know little about photography. I for one am sorry for the treatment you received. Hope you decide to hang around.

Lauren; please don't loose interest in this wonderful forum. It has been an on going learning experience for me in the five years I have been subscribed. However that being said, as with anything (UHH included) there will be a few ignorant jerks like Leitz who will spout off with hurtful, insulting and moronic comments when they don't have a clue as to what is being discussed. You see, they are simply nothing more than trolls, who rarely have anything intelligent to add to the thread. Therefore, due to Leitz's thoughtless and cruel remark toward you, I have placed the clown on my 'ignore' list because I don't want him polluting any of my topics with his rude comments. Rant over.

I think you will absolutely love that lens once you get used to the trombone type of zooming. I find it very easy and useful to acquire my subject @ 100mm, then simply push out to get the composition I want. Best of luck to you, and please don't give up on the forum.

Michael

Thank you for your kind words. I have been a member here for several years, and I too have seen many unkind trolls who patrol the forums. Usually I try not to respond, but this guy just got to me. You are correct, as there is a lot of good information to be gathered here, and I do occasionally even shop in the sale area. Thank you again for your support. L.

Hi Michael, Thank you for your support, and excellent information to place him on my "ignore" list. I just did that very thing. I have only had the opportunity to use my lens once, but was considering it, maybe with an extender, for the Mars experience on July 27th. This is the II version and does not have the trombone style zoom, but the twist, like most other lenses. So far, I have enjoyed using it, but am really looking forward to a good test run. Thanks again - Lauren
