I have a used car dealer wanting me to take pictures of cars for his website. What should I charge for this? I don't consider myself an expert but i have taken pictures of many parties for family and friends and been told I take better pictures than they have paid for. Thank you for your help.

Since you've admittedly not done this type of shooting before you may want to feel out your client to see what he'd be willing or would expect to pay.

Things to consider. Will you have to post process?
These photos will be published on the World Wide Web meaning that even people in India can see them.
What type of camera are you using, a dslr I hope?

Explain all these things up front and then come to an agreement that makes you both happy.

By the hour is fine except when, on a particular day, he has only one new car to add... then by the hour won't work.

At least this is what I would do.

Good Luck, Jim

You might want to consider something like $30-50/hr with a one hr minimum to cover travel, setup etc.

Take a look at www.Autohound.ca if you need a reference of what angles to shoot, use a Circ Polarizer to cut down glare.

I have done other types of photography like senior pictures and children but that is usually packages. This would be a few cars a week. Yes, I have a dslr camera.

Consider what your time is worth to you. Consider any costs you will incur in providing him the photos for his website. How much time will you spend in post processing and uploading to him?
I suspect that he'll get the photos, say "great" and then ask for an edit, or something else such as coming out to reshoot something.

I've done a lot of stuff on the cheap, and customers never appreciate it. In the end, you have to decide how much your time is worth. And if they decide that it's too much, so what. They can get someone else to do it cheaper, and you can spend your time doing what you like to do, rather than doing a job for someone who doesn't appreciate it.

Learn how to read. I did not grade you.

I asked forum members to read your posts so they would be informed.

I ask them now (after they read your posts) to make their own decision:

Troll...... or...... (as self-proclaimed) a professional :?:
