Seems what the website claimed is bull or misleading. They say the Plate is arca swiss compatible and maybe it would mount in an arcaswiss clamp much the same way my reading glasses would. I was duped into believing the words when the pictures tell a different story.
The clamp on the other hand is quite different to an arca swiss clamp. In particular there is a pin which sits into one side of the rail. The plate too has a taper on the rail presumably it pushes the pin down when the plate is slid in and the pin pops up once the hole in the rail is over it.
It's unfortunate there is a tactic by some vendors to use keywords in product descriptions that don't actually apply. Buyer beware unfortunately and significant return postage costs...
It looks like it should be fairly straight forward to replace the clamp and plate with a proper arca swiss clamp & plate(s).
