Only my two cents, if you exclude archived images, then you may exclude a large population of UHH users. For example Ice Cold is very difficult for a Florida resident and as Festina Lente indicated "Hot & Dry" eliminates half of the country, if the images have to be taken within the contest timeframe. Perhaps the image should be taken within the last twelve months?? Gary

I just wanted to double underscore that the latest weekly photography challenge has new rules!

One new rule although not compulsary we should not be submitting archive images. Out of the 10 on there so far I have checked and none of them were shot this week. I do apologise if your image was not from archives because 2 of 10 had the exif data striped and I could not check.

The second new rule is that ALL entries MUST include a description. The more elaborate the better. Can I please point out that the little girl splashing in the water feature is an excellent image but the description remains as "untitled". This will not be allowed as of this week so if possible I suggest you try and add a description to it.

Come on guys n gals stop with the archives and get creative! Shoot your entries the week the challenge comes out.

Ice Cold could be a simple as an Ice Cold Beer... You know.

Although I have not yet submitted any entries in these contests (at least I don't recall having entered any), I believe that some people, who work full time or have been in the process of seeking employment (such as me) have a more difficult time taking the time to go out and hunt for specific subject matter to photograph while others are either professionals or are retired and have an unlimited budget of free time and therefor have an advantage. I have finally succeeded in finding a job (albeit part-time as a school bus driver...passed my CDL tests yesterday) and eventually intend to sign up for a photography course where homework is mandatory and will try to take some pics for upcoming contests, but maybe in the future there could be categories for both current and archived pics. Just my 1.5 cents worth.

I'm thinking of starting a contest where you must use archived photos only. What do you think? Kind of like this one.. Smile

Please will everybody stop deleting their images.

The exact wording of the new rule is as follows
"Archived photos are not encouraged - please shoot your photo during the challenge".

Here you can find the full rules: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-52832-1.html#867801

Not encouraged does not mean not allowed. I think eventually St3v3M will make this rule compulsary but the competition is a bit of fun and he breaks people into the new rules gently.

Would anyone be offended if I submitted an archived photo at this time if I promise to submit brand new photos in future contests?

Mafadecay, I totally admire and appreciate your time and efforts.....they make us stretch. I have never entered a contest yet, (just can't fit one more thing in), but I love to view the entries! I think we should continue striving to perfect our craft and creativity. You are firm but valiant, I hope all will accept the rules with a grain of salt and keep producing high quality images. Best wishes, WLS

I submitted my pic (don't know if anyone else added any after) and realized the pic I picked isn't the one that was uploaded. What I mean is the cropped shot was on the thumbnail I hit, but the original unedited shot was the one that showed up on the contest page. That's happened a number of times in the past. I use Picasa. Any ideas why this is happening? (I'll keep the pic up there, but it's frustrating)

Thanks for letting us know about the rules change, I did not read the rules this time, I know ignorance is no excuse. I think it's good to challange ourselves, so don't vote for mine it's the one with.............

Friday, after I passed my tests, I drove back to the company (who had been training me for the last 2 or 3 weeks) and filled out the paperwork (seemed to be about an inch thick...ugh) to officially become an employee. School doesn't start for a few weeks yet and I'll have to wait 90 days before getting benefits and it's 4 hrs pay per day for 157 days unless I get extra charters, but at least I am going to have a predictable income (something I haven't had since last August)

I had the problem, I had to save it to a new album out of Picasa. Hope that helps
