I shoot with the P520 and bought a lens hood and filter kit from K&F through Amazon.
It works great for me.

I'm sorry; did you read what I wrote past the initial question?!
Lens hoods are used primarily on lenses and the lens really doesn't know whether it's attached to a DSLR or a bridge camera.
As I previously mentioned, I have lens hoods on some bridge cameras. It's not my imagination, there really are hoods on the lenses. If you believe I'm not being truthful I can post photos of the cameras with hoods on them.
As for the "fixed lens", why would it matter if the lens may or may not be detached from the Camera body? The basic functionality is the same regardless of how the lens is attached; glare is glare and flare is flare.

I said "I maybe wrong" thanks for clearing that up and nobody's accusing you of not being truthful. As I said I never had a bridge camera, but I know with the older ones, when you turn off the camera, the lens automatically goes into the body. I though that would interfere with the lens hood. My mistake.
