Lumix FZ200 or FZ300. 25-600mm f2.8 superzoom lens and able to shoot RAW. $300 and up, depending on new/used/model, etc.
Going to be really hard to replace 2000mm

And REALLY expensive if he goes FF ILC!!
The Kodak PIXPRO AZ901 has RAW and 90X zoom up to 1980mm optical (+ 4X digital if you wish to use it). There's also a setting where you can shoot RAW and jpeg simultaneously - getting a file for each at the same time. Many options for settings including a programmable "smart right" that can be set to quickly change exposure +/-, manual focus, etc.
"smart right" should read "smart ring"
I’d again like to thank everyone who took the time to respond. I’m going to wait until nikon introduces the P1000 and hope it shoots RAW and that I can afford it!
You need to be aware, Mr. S, that there is no bridge camera on the market at this time that offers the 83x optical reach and also has RAW. You will have to move into a DSLR to achieve what you want.
I'm not so sure you are correct, at least regarding the focal length. Can you imagine the cost of a DSLR lens that would have that reach? Many thousands of dollars.

Certainly not, but I suspect they mean the OP would need a DSLR to achieve what they're looking for, with all that would be entailed.
There are several cameras that have a focal range over 60X and shoot RAW and not real expensive.... The Canon SX60 for example (under $500).

True, but I took the post I was referring to, to be stating that the wide to extreme zoom of the P900 is non-existent in other cameras. Although there was a post about a Kodak which seems to almost match it.
you are throwing away 2000mm?
