Take a gander at Yongnuo...I'm sure the spelling is wrong but, I hear good things about them.

I have bought several used Nikon speedlights off Ebay. SB700, SB800 and SB900 all in your price range. So far all the speedlights I have bought off Ebay have worked. Might check KEH or other used camera vendors.

Agree with Yongnu as a decent off brand. My wife and I bought matching Neewer 750 II flashes, and they've been very useful and cheap! It's the same model in the Amazon link above. The Nikon models are terrific, but you can buy a half dozen Yongnuos (sp?) or Neewers for the price of one.
I hesitate to buy used flashes on the bay, but if you can get a warranty they can sometimes be a real bargain.

Godox. The menu does not require you to read Mandarin.
Get them from B&H or marketed as Flashpoint from Adorama.
They are the same thing.
They make the most extensive system on the market. Look at their Site HERE
Also have a Li-Ion powered unit that will give you 650 full-power flashes. -HERE.
Built-in radio transceivers for off camera use.
I use Nikon at work and they are great....but not inexpensive.
Been happy with my Godox stuff for my own stuff.
I also have the AD 200: three times the power as a speedlight in a package only slightly bigger.
Has its own FB page following.

I used to recommend them as well, but I will do so no more, you'll get what you pay for when you buy them, sure they do perform well, but they just do not last, after a while they latterly start falling apart! (not worth it, not even that little money)!

You nailed the spelling, but you'd think they could come up with a better name, especially for the non-Chinese market.
