The last time I went to a stadium (Soccer game) I took the Nikon Coolpix p900 and the security was fine with it. The zoom, as you know. is marvelous and it handled low light fine when it got darker. I also took the Sony RX 10 III to a game, another great superzoom and security did not care either.
Sadly I don't have any of these cameras anymore, so in July when I go again I will try taking the Fuji with the 55-230 mm, hopefully the stadium security won't mind!

Check the stadium in DC for that.

This is correct and is in response to an another post above, about the Dodgers visiting in D.C. Another response said to check with Dodger Stadium in L.A., which would do absolutely no good for a game being played at Nationals Stadium in Washington D.C.

ANY pro team.... baseball, soccer, football (real football), basketball, hockey, etc.... playing in ANY stadium or arena, you'd better check with the stadium or arena you'll be attending, to be certain of the local rules. Football (the real kind, with pads, balls with point ends that you can touch with your hands and all) is extremely strict! Baseball... less so. Soccer (that other kind of football), etc., I have no idea. It probably varies a lot.

Check the website. The rules regarding photography are almost always stated there (I say "almost" only because I haven't checked them all. I've never seen a stadium or arena that DIDN'T have the rules posted online). I would also recommend you PRINT OUT the stadium rules as written and take that with you... It's not unheard of for someone at the gate to start making up their own rules and trying to enforce them. Unless you have the rules with you in written form, you'll have a hard time refuting them.

I tend to avoid such inquiries but now could use some suggestions if anyone has such experience. I will be in SFO and going to a Giants/Dodgers game. Our seats are a little bit down the line from the end of the Giants dugout and in the field level section. I have a couple of body choices and am wondering about lens selection. A ff dslr or a high quality micro 4/3 are my choices. I have a choice between a ff 300mm & 1.4 tc or a 4/3 40/150 & ability to use the in body 2X tc. I would hope to get some decent shots of players in action. Opinions welcome.

Take both and post the results of your experiment.

I take my 80-400mm lens to a number of baseball and football stadiums and have NEVER been questioned. But this is great advice! I have had similar problems with TSA from time to time, with people making up their own rules!
