Hi, Hoggers.
I am contemplating the purchase of a Sony A7.
I have a lot of lenses for my Sony a6000.
I also have quite a few for my Olympus OM D M 10 II.
Can I use my e-mount Sony lenses on the A7? If so, how well will they work? That is, will the image from the lens cover the ff sensor, or will I get a cropped effect?
Almost the same question for the oly lenses. What are some good adaptors, and again, what will be the impact of a mft lens on the sensor.
I guess in both these questions, I am wondering if I will lose pixels, and how many.
Thanking you in advance, I look forward to your help.

The APS-C lenses from your A6000 will work perfectly on your A7 if you set the camera to crop mode. You won't have any more vignetting than on your A6000, but you will only get about 10mpix out of it. If you try to use them in FF mode you will get heavy vignetting - really a hard circle that can't be removed with PP.
I don't believe there is any adapter for mft to ff. Even if there was. the results would probably be pathetic.
If you are considering the A7 as part of an upgrade path, I would suggest not going down the FF road unless you are prepared to spend at least $3,000 - $4,000 for body and FF lenses. If you can't commit that much I suggest you would be better off upgrading to an A6500 and the best APS-C lenses for what you need. The A6500 matches or exceeds the A7 in almost every measurement on DXOmark and is a stabilized body.

Ah, I didn't know the A7 could be switched to crop mode.
I second the A6500 recommendation, have one love it.

I recently posted some pics that compare the Sony 18-105 on an A6000 and on an A7Rii against the highly rated ($1100) FE 90mm Macro G. The A7 would not do as we as the A7Rii. Decide for yourself if that is the route you want to go.

Using my a7R2 as an example. When using crop sensor lenses I get a 18 mb image instead of 41 mb image. When I go to the menu and selsct 35mm equivlent with a crop sensor lens I get a 32 mb image. I assume these numbers would increase if I used uncompressed RAW instead RAW.
Don't unless your prepared to purchase the FF lenses to go with the A7. Also the difference in the performance of these two cameras is a lot less than most people think.
